RAM prices are going down

Ooh that is good news, waiting might not be a bad option then considering what happened with hard drive prices.

yea ram has been quite cheap for a while now, was surprised to see 4gb Jet Ram/Kingston value ram for like R200.. really really want to upgrade the pc but yea circumstances at the moment dont allow for an upgrade.

This is awesome new for me now my upgrade for the RAM wont cost me that much i hope, will phone in for a quote and see what it will cost me.

Sweet I can add another 8 gigs in to the 8 I have vengeance
Wait is there such a thing as too much ram

Nope I have 16GB in both my main rigs.

Anyway

Well technically not a good thing. What the companies will do now is just stop producing until there is a demand again. So cheap now...but only for a short while.

Probably not for Mac I assume? Current 16gb upgrade is R12000!!! For MBP

I bet if you open that machine up you see you running the same ram some of the guys on this forum are running... I say this becuase apple is running standard PC parts under the hood for sometime now. And if you have Intel CPU, Nvidia or AMD GPU then you most likely running low latency standard DDR3 memory.

So like Joker said Apple knows you are suckers... for over priced standard pc parts.

RAM prices are always the least of my worries when it comes to upgrades. They are actually so cheap already for what you get.
CPU prices are still expensive (but fair enough). And also now hard drive prices are ridiculous - only the past couple of months though. This should change in time.

Yeah, that sucks... I was just about to get myself some large storage, now that happens... Now if only the price of MBs, RAM, CPUs and PSUs can drop, I can get a new rig!

Too much ram? Not really... ever heard of ram drives? Vm? Ram drives are the bomb... make your ram into a hard drive.

Apple wanted to charge me R3000 for a 500gb drive which is under R500 normally. The drive was a normal seagate with a little apple sticker alongside the seagate one.

You can put other ram in apples... but your warranty diaappears.

On another note... hackintosh is a normal computer running OSX and often faster.

hahahaha, you forgot graphics cards.

I'm willing to spend some cash on a decent GFX card, but then I need the rest... so I am in the ALL or NOTHING upgrade boat.

And when I do buy, I want the R15k upgrade which I should rather put towards the house transfer rates and lawyers' fees... :(

It is a new technology... until it stops growing so rapidly it will remain expensive.
