S.t.a.l.k.e.r. 2

I'm sorry but you have to download content as you play?? That's ridiculous, will not buy.

And what about the gamers who bought all the games? And the modders? I don't think GSC are a big enough developer to be making such a stupid decision.

Agreed, always on internet is one thing, but having to download content as you play is completely out of the question. If it does come out on consoles and gets decent reviews I might consider getting it, but there is no way I am buying the game on PC if they implement that DRM.

Firstly this DRM was a "maybe" and remember that in europe internet costs almost nothing and there is no "cap" so its just a continuous download fest.
Anyway, they have bigger decisions to make at the moment than this :-) .

The following is hopefully a close approximation of the truth; it’s the best I could do with the info gathered from Google Translate's imperfect algorithms:

  • GSC will not sell their new graphics engine, it will be made available for free.
  • It is not yet a certainty, but 3D support might be added and it won’t be difficult to implement.
  • Regarding the console versions; it will be on XBOX, but there's only a low probability for a PS3 version.
  • The advertising campaign will ideally start nine months before the game’s release, much like you'd expect an ovum to get fertilized nine months before a human baby gets...released. The official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 website is expected to be launched about six months before release and it will feature (wait for it...) a countdown timer.
  • Action figures from the game might be produced and will be available on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 website.
  • There probably won’t be a beta and it’s unlikely that GSC will attend any games expos. They feel the brand is already strong enough and there is enough desire for people to play the game.
  • Currently about 60 people are working on the game (this most likely exclude spouses, children, grand children and those who have 'passed over'). The technology is done, now they are adding the content.
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be the first game in a trilogy. Much like the first three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, each game will have its own unique subtitle (hopefully one of them won't be called S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Scrolls; shame on you Bethesda).
Some of the other stuff in the interview ain't that important, for example the music Grigorovich enjoys (classical to metal, he's such a well-rounded individual) and whether or not he plays racing games (he does; or was that did?). There might even have been a question thrown in there about the temperature of Oleg's cinnamon flavoured foil sox, but you can never be sure with web-based translators.

And now, for this evening’s entertainment, I present some Russian-to-English corkers dished up by Google Translate:

  • A new series of books written on the Bible will be released...
  • I am a child engaged in table tennis.
  • ...connected to a game in 40 women and men.
  • I am the founder, owner, she belonged to me.
  • First job, the company which were my money.
  • In about hiking in the area - the sum of these penny...

That's why I said I won't buy it if they implement the DRM, if they don't then they can consider my copy paid for. Also, remember that we are in South Africa where internet costs a lot (usually) and there is also (usually) a cap. Obviously if I lived somewhere where fast, uncapped internet was affordable to everyone I wouldn't give a shit about always on DRM.

exactly and because we are in south africa, they dont give a shit about us (er... maybe excluding me, dunno, we'll see) :-)

Well GSC only said that it was a "maybe" after the backlash from the STALKER community, which includes many Europeans. Just because they have fast internet doesn't mean they don't care about DRM. DRM can also lower framerates as with Witcher 2.

Anyone see this last night? Apparently the entire world has proclaimed that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be the greatest open world, first person survival role playing game of our generation. The bandwagon didn't leave until eNews managed to get on it:

The New York Times has temporarily been shut down, allowing them to work on an upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 cover story. Time magazine is currently awaiting concept art from the game, to be used for the covers of all their November issues. Larry King is scheduled to come out of retirement to interview Oleg Yavorsky and Sergey Grigorovich. Speculation is rife that Elvis might be involved in a second coming, in time for the game's release, as a number of trusted sources revealed last week that during his lifetime, he frequently remarked "Stalker, I like very much."

I've learned from experience (one of your typical human traits) that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fiction is rarely any good.

But thanks for the milk, we'll give it a try.

Where eeeez eeeet!?

Damnit, there's been no news for how long now? At least we'll have Last Light in the meantime.

And Lost Alpha, never forget about that mod. It's a brand new game all on it's own. So you better remember it OR ELSE!

Yep, progress is good on lost alpha. I reckon we should have the storyline complete in two months max, then the hard work starts :)
