S.t.a.l.k.e.r. 2

juice, thanks for the welcome. I would tell you some secrets but the team would have my balls for breakfast and that wouldnt be good for anyone :)

I wish I could say that LA is being released end of this year. But i doubt it. IN other news... does anyone have any news for us related to Stalker? :p

Since the game's announcement late last year, the internetwork has been stobbornly devoid of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 news. This has been the cause of many a person's thoughts of responding to the lure of depression. Whoever is in need of a brand new boat, please post some new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 news.

Some official looking unofficial concept art:

That unofficial concept art does look very official! Do you have any more for us Juice?

Not sure if this has been posted here yet:

Also another thread where some more informed people are discussing s.t.a.l.k.e.r 2:

Also here's the latest s.t.a.l.k.e.r 2 news bit I could find on the wiki:

There was some confusion created in the community when a video was posted with some Stalker 2 news and you (the community) not knowing if it was real. Stalker 2's protagonist will indeed be Strelok. It will be taking place in a large-single-area game world. A Stalker movie is currently being filmed along side the game development with a budget of 3 Million USD due to increase in the future. More Stalker 2 news soon!

Here's the link just in case: http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Tagaziel/New_S.T.A.L.K.E.R._2_details

Sorry, I seem to have misplaced the link to the image and it doesn't respond audibly when I clap my hands or snap my fingers. It was in a russian forum and, using Google translate, it became clear that this is probably not official artwork for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

Have you seen the supposedly official S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 trailer? It's really well done, but Oleg Yavorsky has stated that it's fan-made.

Yeah I have. There's also that video made using the leadwerks engine. Which looks really insane, and the guy who made really does have a lot going for him. I've scoured youtube for anything that really does look official and so far haven't found anything. Just loads of stuff about Crysis: Cryzone Sector 23 and other silly mods.

Although it's worth a look at the video: http://www.youtube.com/user/DaveLee3D#p/a/u/0/ZAunjLrWtdU

The Leadwerks engine demo is clearly S.T.A.L.K.E.R. inspired, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2's new engine will have to look even better than that if it's gonna party with today's heavy hitters like CryEngine 3, Frostbite 2 and id Tech 5 (id Tech 6 is in the works). Not to mention Metro's 4A engine, which would be perfect for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s indoor environments (its large outdoor area rendering capabilities are as yet unproven).

Yes the metro engine is a pc killer. I really enjoy it, specially the built in 3D UI that just makes such a massive difference. But you have to keep in mind that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r xray engine is loved not for it's amazing graphics, but for the unique look you get from that engine. Nothing else gets even close to it. Just an example: Have you seen how massive the feet are of the npc's in game? I love it though.

But if you take S.t.a.l.k.e.r Shadow Of Chernobyl and set the graphics to directx 8, with static lighting. The game becomes something completely different. Have you found any other interesting new news?

Well guys, i think you will find their new engine very interesting :)

Hey vintar, you keep on teasing us with comments like that, but never follow it up with anything concrete. If you really do have any kind of inside info, please share.

We won't tell anyone, promise.

I remember seeing something about an announce for STALKER 2 a long time ago. I checked those websites again, but I'm dissapointed to say I don't see any real difference from my first excited search. No tangible screenshots or video's. No valuable information. But on the other hand I know GSC deliver their product when it's ready. They may not have good PR, but I liked the way they gave the "It will be ready when it's ready" message, and gave the impression that they didn't give a f*** to those anal, whiner-types. (I'm still shocked by people who want the BF3 Beta patched - Arrgh, F*** NO! A beta? Slit my wrists vertically!)

Anywho. One bit of interest I am able to remember is that they said they were going to revamp the powerful X-Ray engine the current STALKERs use. I know CoP uses the 1.6 version. Maybe STALKER 2 will use the X-Ray 2.0? That would be cool. That engine has a lot of potential, but the fact that STALKER 2 will be multi-platform means it will probably be raped down to console level (no offence to console-gamers). I'd hate to see that beauty get whored to the consoles like CryEngine 3. *whinces*

Isn't the 4A engine developed by some of the old GSC guys? I thought the core of 4A is formed by guys who left GSC. I remember reading an interview with one of the main programmers from 4A. He said that X-Ray used "terrible text-based scripting". Horrible to work on. I loved Metro 2033. Drew me in as much as STALKER, but some of it was confusing. Not like the book at all.
Metro: Last Light looks good too (Not hijacking).

A lot(most) of the comments on those pages you linked are quite negative, Juice. To be honest, I'm trying really hard not to be influenced by them, but if GSC is really going to dish up that DRM crap. . .
I'll probably check the reviews when it comes out(2012?), and then see.

I really hope they do it well, we need this.
