I remember seeing something about an announce for STALKER 2 a long time ago. I checked those websites again, but I'm dissapointed to say I don't see any real difference from my first excited search. No tangible screenshots or video's. No valuable information. But on the other hand I know GSC deliver their product when it's ready. They may not have good PR, but I liked the way they gave the "It will be ready when it's ready" message, and gave the impression that they didn't give a f*** to those anal, whiner-types. (I'm still shocked by people who want the BF3 Beta patched - Arrgh, F*** NO! A beta? Slit my wrists vertically!)
Anywho. One bit of interest I am able to remember is that they said they were going to revamp the powerful X-Ray engine the current STALKERs use. I know CoP uses the 1.6 version. Maybe STALKER 2 will use the X-Ray 2.0? That would be cool. That engine has a lot of potential, but the fact that STALKER 2 will be multi-platform means it will probably be raped down to console level (no offence to console-gamers). I'd hate to see that beauty get whored to the consoles like CryEngine 3. *whinces*
Isn't the 4A engine developed by some of the old GSC guys? I thought the core of 4A is formed by guys who left GSC. I remember reading an interview with one of the main programmers from 4A. He said that X-Ray used "terrible text-based scripting". Horrible to work on. I loved Metro 2033. Drew me in as much as STALKER, but some of it was confusing. Not like the book at all.
Metro: Last Light looks good too (Not hijacking).
A lot(most) of the comments on those pages you linked are quite negative, Juice. To be honest, I'm trying really hard not to be influenced by them, but if GSC is really going to dish up that DRM crap. . .
I'll probably check the reviews when it comes out(2012?), and then see.
I really hope they do it well, we need this.
