New PC check please!

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, i am buying a new PC and would like to run it by u guys just to check that everything will be compatible etc.

So here goes:

Intel core i7 920 2.66ghz
INTEL® "Extreme Series" "Smack Over" X58 - Socket LGA1366
3 x Transcend® JetRam™ High-Performance 2GB DDR3-1333 240-Pin
Coolermaster Full Tower Chassis, HAF932 , Black
Leadtek NVIDIA® GeForce GTS250, 512MB graphics card (temporary card until the DX11 cards come out)
Samsung 25.5" WIDE TFT LCD monitor, 1920 X 1200 - T260
GIGABYTE® ODIN 720W 24-Pin Power Supply
Mecer 600VA OFF-LINE UPS

If are waiting for a DX11 graphics card get yourself a cheap mobo and cpu now as well. Your i7 will be obsolete in less then 6 months.

lol Gaming doesn't need a i7 core or better now. Gaming is more dependent on RAM and GPU power but mostly GPU power. You can get a much cheaper quad core pc than the one you are getting now and save that extra money on a mother of a Graphics card.

Most of the software isn't optimized even for quad core till now.

But if money is not a problem then go for it and enjoy please. I'm just here to help you not wasting all your hard earned money.

Can't wait for core i5....October is just too long, although it will be cheaper and perform close to the core i7, I have the "buy now" syndrome.

Nice to see you're not one of "those" kids who had the 'rents buy them everything through life! It makes you enjoy YOUR pc just all that much more!

4 Months seems like a long time, but I'd still wait it out hey... buying an i7 now is like buying a car out the box when the newer model is being released in 6 months time for the same price.
 
The big thing to remember here is that i7 has it's own socket i5 will use a newer socket. so if you think long term and want to upgrade at a later stage you will also have to replace your motherboard. If i were you i would wait around 2 more months because then the hardware manufacturers will show of their new boards and pricing is likely to be revealed.

My AA is higher and I still just lag behind with 4 frames.
 
I would avoid Intel's socket bulls**t entirely and go AMD, its not like anything NEEDS core i7 or i5 to run anyway
 
I7 doesn't work out much more than core2quad, if you can afford the extra, go for it. And if you later want to the overclock like beasts.
 
get another mobo ... not an intel one ... try another manufacturer for the psu too ... you could probably get a cheap 4850 then crossfire it later too ...
