Spamming his way to 20

I'm really getting tired of these ten post wonders that do the rounds come every competition. I wish they could change the criteria for the competitions a bit, like if you only have ten posts it should be spread over a few days and/or one or two sentence posts don't count.

I think the whole post limit thing for competitions is quite annoying.

On the one hand there are people like me who have been here since day one, but who don't really care much for posting because I don't feel like anything I have to say really adds any value to the forum, but if I want to take part in a competition I'm forced to come up with something to post without seeming spammy. On the other hand you get these people who join just to enter the competitions and then spam a couple of posts never to return again.

I'm not sure which annoys me more, but at least I've won once, so I guess I can't really complain. Removing the limit will at least get rid of a lot of useless posts.

At the same time though, if you get rid of the post limit, you're going to have hundreds of people coming in, posting once, possibly winning and disappearing again. So you get the guys who have been around for a while, posting regularly and being part of the community losing out.

It's a flawed system, I agree, but at least we can spot the spammers and boot them out the comps if they're horribly obvious about it.

Rather than waste perfectly good posts in here, rehashing the same sorry old subject matter I'll just dump THIS here.

This entire subject has been discussed to death in that thread.

Yeah well, I have long since given up hope of actually winning in the exclusives comps.

Honestly, I don't even bother looking at what Exclusives has anymore, I just copy one of the first entries and move on...

But whatever. They've come to take what they want and there's not really much you can do about it. Except bitch.
Which we're doing now.

I can't wait for the world to end in 2012.

LOL

You are giving that thread so much love Omega :D

Well its there, its well populated I figure I makes a great Moan Thread. Trolls can Moan about how sucky it is here, the rest can moan about the troll. I will be like one big moaning orgy....

is this the thread about the three breasted women , oh no its a troll thread
side not yes its been discussed but needs to be brought up every now and again , cause all of a sudden there are 15 or 20 completely pointless threads , yes I know I dont have to click them but I like seeing the all threads read thingy it makes me happy
this being said I always look at the poster , when I saw this one I knew its bound to get to at least 5 pages (heres crossing my fingers need to up the posts to win MW3 ..... oh wait that game is just a map pack )

Okay, you really need to stop trolling and spamming to get your post count up for the competition.

I'm not really against the 10 post count for weekly competitions... keeps the members active.
I could be speaking under correction here, but I don't think that your problem with spam is with the members who've been here a while, but rather the newer members? Maybe add an additional requirement to all competitions that requires an initial post count of at least 20 or 30 AND the member's profile must be more than one month old.

I originally joined the forum because of a link I got to a competition in a Mybroadband newsletter I think. Although the competition is what lured me to this forum, for the first couple of weeks I didn't enter them anyway and the competitions aren't the reason why I'm still here. My point being, adding those two requirements to competitions should still lure new members to the site, but it should also perhaps deter the "fly-by-week" members.

Damn; lost my post due to the forum migration...

So what I basically said was, that you guys should relax and leave the competition administration to MyGaming staff. As outlined in the rules, spammers won't be tolerated. We are always fair and things run smoothly, do they not?

We have comps to attract new members and to reward the MyGaming community in general. 20 posts over 10 days wasn't a big ask, but unfortunately some will spam to try abuse the system.

I have no idea why the guys who insist on spamming to get their postcounts up aren't just doing it in Threadkiller - that's basically the place to do it, AND they'd get to know the community a bit better in the process. They may even make new friends and stay, and then we could have drum circles and stuff.

I joined Mygaming for a comp, and i had the decency to read the topics before i posted when i joined... Okay i skim alot these days but at least read a few comments on each page of the thread to get the just of it some thread are just too long. These current newbies (i stil classify my self as one) are just here for the comp and make really bad first post it sometimes has no relation to the thread they in.

I dont mind having them here, but still make a little effort with quality posts and if you actually do make a mistake apologise and move on..

@James i think the staff are doing a good job, i think some members just need to vent a little... Cause the last time someone got upset, when they were directly confronted.

P.S. I had my post count before i posted here checked to make sure this wasnt counted as spam... Now to go and spam the spammers :)

I suppose people do need a place to vent if they feel frustrated, and they are welcome too, and of course people who sign up may read these threads. However I don't want an air of hostility toward newcomers.

When signing up they are asked to read the rules, and the competition rules are clear in each thread. If they step over the line they will meet with stern but fair moderation

Spamming the TK wouldn't end well. We're territorial :p If they posted properly in the TK there would be no issue.

I must agree, Mygaming is very fair and well organised.

What Omega said below. They would just end up spamming TK as well without getting what TK is really about.
