Deal of the year...well I think so

MalicE

Party time! Excellent!
Just thought I'd share with my fellow tech-heads

Last night I bought a Acer Aspire 7739:
i3 CPU
17.3" LED Display
750gb HDD
4gb RAM
Intel HD Graphics
Windows 7 Home Basic (the only con)

awesome little machine, for only R4999... from CNA! :wtf:

I was looking at that one! We need a nice little Notebook for the home. And this one seems like a good deal.
How is the performance on it? Im always scared of notebooks under performing (unless you buy Alien Ware of course...)

Grim... it is "too" not "to".

Seems like a nice deal, I wasn't aware that CNA actually sell computers now. They have their hands in every pie! :P
@ Malice, luckily you can upgrade Win7 from home to pro rather easily so still a good deal.

What does your Windows Experience Index Rating come out to?

Good price. On the Acer side, I usually preferred the Travelmate and Extensa, although the Aspire would be better for gaming / multimedia. My experience with the older Acer Aspires though is that the battery (and sometimes the hard drive and screen) doesn't last. However, that was a couple of years ago so they've probably sorted most of the issues out by now.
The last Acer Aspire I bought was top of the range and it was about 3-4 years ago. We've had to replace the hard drive and battery, but it is still in use today (not by me, but still in use nonetheless)

CNA... did not see that one coming.

Hmmm, my friend has an aspire which constantly overheats. So I've become a bit weary. Very good price, although you won't be jamming any games on that Intel GFX card! :-/

that is a great deal! sho, looks at shiny Edgars card... NO!!! NO!!! *cuts it up*

HAHAHA! That's what I should have done, now Edgars is laughing all the way to the bank

What does your Windows Experience Index Rating come out to?

The average is sadly quite low, but it's only due to the Aero rating because of the Intel HD gfx, the rest all score 5, 6 and above ^_^

Yeah that is a bit of a holdup, it will run some games on lower spec, but is limited

What display card is it using? 17.3" is desktop replacement "spec" but that i3 will just be fine for entry level gaming and some office / web work. But hey, it is cheaper than an iPad and it is a real computer...

Not bad specs: this is close...

Yes I bought it mainly for work, coding in Visual Studio and a bit of graphics work, for that it's working brilliantly

Wow, that really is a great deal - and from CNA as well. What does the warranty information say though?
