Batman Arkham city Games for windows live

How I hate games for windows live...

Anyway this is the issue. This morning was playing batman arkham city without any issue then the game crashed and since then games for window live refuses to let me sign in only ofline mode.

I can sign into other gflw games like fable 3 and fallout 3 but batman refuses. The only I have noticed is those games are assigned internal ip address 192.168.1.101:3074 while batman arkham city is assigned 192.168.1.101:0. For some reason the same problem is affecting batman arkham asylum.

I have tried forwarding the port. Disabling windows firewall, nod 32 antivirus and my routers firewall.

Any help would be great, this driving me up the wall.

Tried uninstalling GFWL and then reinstalling it?

P.S. This is just one of the many reasons why I stopped buying anything with GFWL/SecuRom/UPlay/Ubisoft DRM.

Good luck getting it sorted, Stefan :(

Will try that now. I doudt it will work because the other gflw games work its just the batman games...

I prefer no drm or steam but compared to the other drm's gflw is the worst I have ever had to. Caused me to lose save games when reformating (lost street fighter 4 and the first batman game) and now this bs.

Yeah, I'm no fan either.

I doubt it would work myself, but there's always a chance that a reinstall sorts out whatever went wrong.

i feel for you bud i had that issue the other day . if you do reinstall you stand a chance of corrupting the save . lost AA save that way but for AC it worked .

Agreed... By far, GFWL is the crappiest, most annoying of them all. I installed Batman AC on the DAY OF RELEASE and GFWL had an update to do before I could play. They always have updates regardless of when a game is released and unless you download it, you can't play. Hate the bastards.

Happened to me as well. A lot of games that use GFWL to manage the saved games is like that. Have found it with a previous James Bond game as well.

Reninstalled games for windows live didn't solve the issue but atleast I didn't lose the save games.

Tested some more. I have found that if I install my retail batman arkham city CE from the disk then it fixes the games for windows live BS but it causes something much worse. My save games disappears.

Restoring my steam version restores my save games but causes the games for windows not logging in bs.

So guess I will eventually have to redownload the steam version and see if that solves this.

Wait hold on, you installed both the Retail AND the Steam version of the game at the same time? Sound to me that is where you issue might lie considering they are NOT exactly the same game. The Steam version has Steamworks while retail does not.

I would copy my saves files to a safe place the completely uninstall both versions of the game and then reinstall the one you want.

No I only had the steam version installed. I only got the CE for the batman figurine. I only stalled the CE to see if it would fixed the problem, I uninstalled the steam version before doing this.

What happens is it will allow me then to log in to windows live but my save games disappear. When I uninstall the retail version and reinstall the steam version(steam backup ftw btw) I can load my save games but can't log into windows live(only ofline mode).

As for copy the save games that would be easy If I could actually find where they get installed. The place where game claims it stores them has no data, so I don't know where it actually stores them. It is supposed to be mydocumument/WBGames/BatmanArkhamCity/SAVEDATA , but the folder is totally empty even when the steam version is loaded and has save games loaded in game.

This is just one of the many many reasons why games for windows live is the most idiotic system ever...

Only thing I can find with regards to save file location is this;

So looking through the two places that save games seems to be stored for the game: Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham City\Savedata and Steam\Userdata\STEAM ID NUMBER\57400\remote\. The Steam folder has a file in it, with my xbox live id followed by save0.sdg. The WB Games folder has nothing at all in it. So what is this used for? Non-Steam versions?

If you are running the Steam version try verify integrity of local game content so see if it fixes anything. Otherwise you can try copy that save file from your Steam userdata folder to the WBGames folder and try installing the retail version. Third choice is just to run GFWL in offline mode, does it really matter to you that you aren't getting GFWL achievements considering you are still getting the Steam ones.

The issue is not with achievements, don't care for them. Issue is if new dlc gets released you need to redeem it in game and you can only do that if you are running gfwl in online mode, even if you buy the dlc via steam.

So for now I will just run it like is and once I finish the game redownload and see if that solves the issue.

Not to mention the non-existant GFWL support from microsoft's side. I have been trying to get in contact with support to look into my issue of Batman AC Collector's redeemable codes not working, so far I am only able to speak with XBox LIVE support which apparently is supposed to handle it but they have no clue what is going on.

After contacting Warner Brothers customer support I am making some progress.. although it's painfully slow. I've had no issues with the original Batman AA on GFWL, but I don't think I'll be buying another GFWL game again..

I bought batman arkam city retail. I can only play offline for sum reason. I have the robin dlc, which i cant get 2 because i cant get windows live to go online. P.s i have checked my firewall.

The problem is gfwl , i hate it. Its just there i have no idea why they add it.

For some reason this has now resolved it self and I am now able to login again. All that changed was downloaded and installed the monthly windows 7 security updates.

So I reckon this was gfwl being its bs app and creating a false postive breach of their drm.

Edit: Spoke too soon. Game crashed once and since then the bs is back. I am now 100% sure it is gfwl for some bs reason flagging my genuine steam copy as not legit each time it crashes...

I really really love gfwl..

Now my save is gone as well and there is no way to recover it. For some reason the dam system has deleted my save, it left my brother save alone but decided to delete mine for no apparent reason.

GFWL is the reason I stopped playing Dawn of War II.

Kak one dude. Lost all my Resident Evil 5 and Dirt 2 saves trying to just install Dirt 3.
It's absolutely incredible that that crap still exists.

Yoh, now I'm scared to go start up my Dirt 2.

While playing Fallout 3 and having lots of crashes, I downloaded a "patch" to disable GFWL from starting up on Fallout. I wonder if something similar will be available for Batman. From now on, a GFWL crack / disabler is going to be the first google search I do for any games I install that have it.
