Spamming his way to 20

sorry, i know im late to join this topic, but here is my 1.99 cents worth.

if the whole "post-limit" thing is removed, then as Shadofox has pointed out, we will be flooded with 1-post spammers who will try and win the comps. it will make it harder for legit posters to win anything and will unfairly reward the fly-by-nighters.

i actually think that the "10 posts in a week" rule is a stroke of genius. I used to be a regular poster on the xbox and ps3 forums, but then got busy and sidelined by work. i confess that i initially signed up for MyGaming due to the competitions. but then when i started reading some of the threads, i noticed that there were some cool dudes here :-)

often times i may have something to contribute, but may just feel lazy to type it out. the competition is what tempts me to put in that little bit of effort and actually post what's on my mind.

if not for that, i may have just kept my thoughts to myself and not contributed. if everyone feels like that now and then, the forum dies. so i conclude my theorem that the competitions and structure are what actually keeps the forum going, but in a healthy rather than destructive way. Q.E.D.

:-)

Dudes!:) I'm joking, I try and be smart and witty all the time, I fail a lot but I never spam.

That was a much better response than i am "typing to get your post count up"... Dont worry i fall into the fail bracket alot too, when i am not clear on what i mean. It the way of the interwebs... I feel like i am spamming.. Uhm shadow confirm.

And I was just using scare tactics :p

Guys, I'm not all that strict regarding the spam - I know I've let a couple of guys through that some of the others would ban immediately; besides which I'll pop a friendly hint on their profiles along the lines of they might want to up their post quality. Even posting a lot over a short period of time doesn't really raise my eyebrows that much - I've seen how quickly TK can rack up 5 pages of posts when we get bored at work.

Personally, if I see a ton of one-liners posted in a short period, I'll take a closer look - especially if say 2 thirds of a bloke's posts are absolutely pointless and add nothing; same if I see other forumites complaining.

Me - I like to see the guys contributing to the forums and actually being part of the conversations; there are plenty of times where the one-liners could be considered fine, but they seem like spam when taken out of context.

The final call lies with the admins though - I'm not the authority on these comps, I'm just doing this to help out a bit. It's my contribution to the community.

I find I mainly visit the forum a few times a day, but often only have time to post at one point in the day. So most of my posts are in bursts within a pretty short time.
