What should I do with my i3?

I've been waiting for months and now it's finally here.. My i3 processor. I tried playing videos that ran slow on my old Celeron and there was definitely a improvement. But I don't know what to do with it. I can't really play games since my Graphics card is not that great (Geforce 8400 GS). I want to use my processor to it's full potential so what should I do?

Encode stuff? Watch HD movies? Run benchmarks?

There is no reason to use it to its ful potential. Like anything, using it at less than full prolongs its life. The headroom just means you can do more with that small percentage use aiding its lifespan and having the ability to use it when you need it.

It says:
Intel core i3-2100 cpu @ 3.10 GHz

Those are actually fantastic little cpu's.

They are actually able to play BF3 without any issues, I would save up and try get a second hand 5850 or 5870 Graphics card and you'll be well on you're way to playing any and every game out there.

That chip should overclock REALLY REALLY well. . . .mostly depends on the overclocking capabilities of your motherboard, more than the CHIP

Good point, though I must admit - I never buy non-K (non-overclockable) chips.

The non-K chips can only be overclocked by a slight increase in the FSB - like a Mhz or two....

But you are correct, looks like Robin has the non-K version. . . . :/

I'm not really interested in Overclocking it. I don't want to play any of the latest games either, since I can get it on Xbox. I myt play a few old games like Diablo 2

Should be fine with that cpu. Games are usually limited by gpu and ram before cpu.

In your case the 8400gs will be your bottleneck in games or graphics intense games.

Like i mentioned earlier, no point in trying to use something to its fullest. If you dont use all of a cpu's power be happy... many of us wish we had more spare cpu capacity

/thinks back to his skyrim game with a Bluray encode running in the background.
