DS lite worth getting?

Pretty much what the title says. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth getting myself a DS lite for Christmas now that they are so cheap. I can get a refurb console (with one year warranty) for R999.95 and then it comes with New Super Mario Bros. and Okami Den. I have been wanting a DS for a fair amount of time so I can play Pokemon, but I'm not sure if it's worth getting for just Pokemon. Are there any other really good DS games that would make it worth my while or should I get myself something else?

Also, if I do get it, which is the best Pokemon game to buy?

I was pondering the same thing. Im tired of the old PSP and im looking for something else... is it maybe worth paying the extra R900 odd buks and getting the 3ds?
 
Thought about it but decided I'm happy with gaming on my iPhone. Sure no poke mon but having played yellow through silver I really don't see the point any more.

well you dont have to get a new one, you can check gumtree. there are qutie a few people that what to sell theirs and they will include a flash cart with it and loads of games.

oh other games that might catch your interest would be the final fantasy titles
 
Wondering the same thing. Don't want to get a 3DS, as I'm not interested in the 3D capabilities at all.
 
Not really on the whole "3D bandwagon" so I'm not interested in 3DS. I basically just want to play Pokemon and any other good titles.

Haven't played a Pokemon game in ages and it ia something that I really miss.

As for buying one from gumtree. I don't buy second hand consoles. Ever. Except for the X360 I bought, but that was 3 months old and I know the guy I bought it from very well.

As an owner of a DS Lite and R4DS flashcart I can vouch for this and say that it's pretty worth it.

The DS has an amazing library of games, especially if you're into RPG's.
Games worth getting:

Pokemon diamond/gold/silver/black/white
Radiant Historia
Golden Sun DS
The World Ends With You
Final Fantasy 3/4
Chrono Trigger DS
Fire Emblem DS
Legend Of Zelda Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days
Dragon Quest 9

The DS is amazing with multiplayer as well! would spend literally whole day playing Mario Kart DS with friends!
So yes, just make sure you get yourself a Flashcart and then you're ready to jam.
 
What exactly is a flashcard? What does it do?

Okami Den is not bad if you liked Okami. Pokemon White is also not bad. There are a few interesting titles on the DS, one of my personal favourites being Mechanic Master (a nod to the original T.I.M.). There are some other good games though. Check this out: http://ds.ign.com/articles/921/921522p1.html

I know IGN is not the best source for good games, but these guides normally are quite useful.

Never played Okami so I have no idea what to expect. Thanks for the link.

Right now I'm about 80% sure I'm getting it. Just waiting for the bonus to come through to see how much I can spend on myself. :p

Used to enjoy the hell out of my DS Lite(have the next gen 3DS now, and now not jumping for the 3D bandwagon but simply coz its the next gen to the epic DS)

Castlevania series on the DS is pretty damn epic!!!! All 3 of them, you wont be sorry bro...
and that New Super Mario Bros you getting with? Fun ass game indeed.
I can also vouch for The World Ends With You, Trauma Centre, and Phoenix Wright.

It's definitely worth it, particularly at that price. The DS has a huge game library. Much of it not that good, but quite a number of good games.
