Only thing I can say is if Nvidia dont release the cards sooner than Q3 then they probably going to lose a lot of business to the ATI cards. I must admit this new ATI card is 1 sexy beast and even though I really don't like the ATI cards, there has been a ton of brands that I used to steer clear of and now I religiously support them(ok almost religiously) and I am now considering trying ATI out due to the slightly cheaper/better performance concept.

I am not to sure xD all I do know for sure is that, Nvidia's new top tier card is set for a late 2012 release, the one being released 1Q 2012 is GF/GK114/110 lol

Also wanted to add this :D Just in case of fanboys lurking lol

There will always be driver issues, and Nvidia suffer from the same issues when it comes to drivers.

The 7970 beats any and everything while on Beta drivers, and in case you haven't been following the news, AMD did announce that they will be launching an aggressive driver plan for 2012, so they are aware of the issues and will most likely pay more attention to them.


If anyone says the performance of these cards are crappy/overhyped/not great they are either blind or just being Nvidia fanboys.
As it stand Nvidia doesn't have an answer for the 7970 and seeing as their new top tier card will only be available late Q3 2012, It looks like AMD has the top tier market sown up for a couple of months to come.

This is a win for AMD and a truly epic one at that.

Rumours has the new Nvidia card at 2 x the 580 GTx`s performance,

then if that is the case it will thump this card and this card is exceptional.

So i might skip this card and save up for end 2012 :D

Yip there are also rumors that those cards won't be overlcockable.
All just rumors though, and until we see hard proof of any of the claims I am not gonna even think about those cards.

As it stands I am def getting a 7970 and if finances permit I will be getting a 2nd one for my Bday.

This really is a gem though. And could set amd up nicely!

LoL I am not made of money xD I had to sell my 2x 6970's to afford one and selling my 580 to afford the other, but family might chip in and buy me the 2nd one for my Bday :D

There will be some bad ass benchmarks to follow as soon as someone oc's these cards under water.
26% increase in performance with stock volts..Expect at least 35-40% increase under water and voltage tweaked.
Truly insane!!
 
I will wait for he redesign on the cheaper PCB, i read amd gave full reign to everyone to make custom cards from day one. No 3 month wait anymore
 
Ouch, that's a lot of moola to spend! Hopefully though this will force the pricing down on the older gen cards.
 
I am keen to see how the mid range 7 series performs. I am looking to upgrade my 5770, psu and case soon so that card could be on the cards next year.

I reckon the 78xx is gonna be fantastic and very well priced, and hopefully there will be a 7950 that unlocks..Not too sure about the 2nd part lol :p

I do know that there will be a stock shortage, even when launched. If you do manage to secure one or 2 please post benches mate, as I'll probably only get my cards towards the end of Jan.
 
having looked over the benchmarks i think i might hold of a bit longer on rebuying my pc and will get 2 of these aswell

the power draw is amazingly low for the performance you get. it's awesome really
 
Got an email from a local supplier today regarding this card. Looks like stock has arrived, but limited. Pricing a bit steep for me to consider an upgrade though.
 
Sapphire brand, looking at R7200+ a card. That's with about a 5% markup. I know shops with markups that don't go below 20%, so best bet is to shop around.
