Remember .hack? I do, though I never got around to playing it. The series of games that originated on the PlayStation 2 had an interesting premise: a future-set story built around a fictional MMO called The World. That first 2002 release, Project .hack, spawned several more games, as well as novels, manga, anime and an upcoming movie. That movie, due for release on January 21, will also be ushering in the series' return to current-gen consoles.
Exactly WHICH console(s) it will be coming to remains a mystery, but Famitsu revealed the existence of the in-development game earlier this week (via Andriasang). There are some screens in the mag (not online yet), described as having a "high level of detail," so an HD console release -- and, let's face it, PS3 exclusivity, given the series' history -- is a safe bet. CyberConnect2 has also launched a teaser website, though there's not much to see there just yet. Hopefully we'll have more to bring you soon.
