Is UT3 still on going? I know I can obviously play qlive which I have, but what are my other options for a decent arena shooter ?
 
I don't think anyone plays arena shooters anymore:(
I played qlive for a bit. I miss the golden years of arena shooters.

Bf 3 is great but Arena shooters where great. Miss playing ut 99 and 2004. ut 3 I did not like.
 
Don't think there are even any SA UT3 servers online, searched for them the other day but couldn't find them.

Made two mutators especially for multiplayer but never really got to play with them in that setting.
 
Ah I've had so much fun playing UT :) ... I dont think I'll ever play 2004 again though. I wouldn't want to ruin all of those good memories.

If only Epic Games released UT3 one year earlier :(. I think things wouldn't been a bit different now (only slightly ofc :p)
 
I only play arena shooters at LANs now, mostly quake 3. Of course less people play, you actually have to keep your cross hair on the enemy for more than a split second to get a kill, unlike multiplayer shooters now. I suck at these games now because very few people play them.

There were a few SA guys who got a Quake Live community going but that was a while back as well.
 
QuakeLive is still going strong.
Been slightly quiet the past 2 months with the release of bf3 and skyrim and the holidays, but it should be in full swing again towards the end of jan.

I still have all the UT games but haven't played it in a while unfortunately... Never really got into the Quake thing since I've always been an Unreal fan.
Is there a way to still play Unreal multiplayer without the servers or how does it work? Perhaps we can organise a game between those who are willing to take a stab at it.
 
I'll grab the UT pack from steam, I'm game, rusted, but willing :)

You can just host a listen server in UT3, but there was almost always problems. It either works or it doesn't...

For instance the inability to see hosted games was always a bugger. Did manage it once, but that was when I still had ADSL.

Also rusted here... I remember I killed at Unreal Tournament 1 :), played quite a bit of UT2004 and should probably play a bit more of UT3 as I haven't gotten very far with the various game types.

I'll queue ut/2004 and 3 tonight see how far it gets and then we play :p
 
All install, though unreal gold isn't going to work nice in d!match imho, rather play ut99, 2004 or 3 :)

Sharp... I'll check where exactly my Unreal games are installed and check out the re-texturing during the week then we can perhaps get a game started the weekend.
It's back to work this week so gaming during the week ends for me unfortunately. *sigh*
 
Man, I miss the arena shooters. Played it non stop for quite a long time. It just gives you a simple sense of pleasure!!!
