Complaint bout Blue Rout Mall Incredible Connection - Disconnection should I say

Ok so Simon and I go to Incredible Connection to check out cameras as I needed one for work. The one camera on display that I really liked was the last one in stock. This one was broken yet they wanted to send it away for repairs.I may purchase it from them when it got fixed I told them to go jump. I was sent off by simon to find out a quote bout the two games. Dead Island and King Arthur game (don't know which one exactly)

The gentleman that was assisting me he and his friend started giggling as they assisted. I asked them is there something funny bout my query with the price?
They then said to me "no it is not that often that we get girls asking bout these games". I said "oh so you being sexist now towards women querying bout prices of particular games are you "? I then said to them perhaps you should focus more on doing your job and being professional bout it rather judging me"
In the end I just landed up by buying a digital camera from Fugi Film,Simon bought one game from them.

When ever I go there I always seem to have a problem.
They are never helpful, sales people always chat around in a group, They never there for helping you. There shelf displays are always broken.Just a couple months back I went to check out laptops. My aunt had given some money that I could buy one and there were two laptops that the keys were falling out the computers yet they were on display. Told the sales men and they just laughed in my face and said they crap that is on display any way. They started touching the laptop screen as we had also noticed that the specs were wrong as to what they had written on the display, to what was on the the actual lap. I told them not to touch the screens as it is rather bad for LCD'S to be touched liked that, They laughed walked away and left the broken laptops there,


My biggest problem is what store displays broken stock, How do they expect business if they can't even say thank-you and have a nice day,
Those cashiers should really buy some chapstick perhaps it will help them to smile,maybe they wont be afraid to as their lips wont crack.

How does them giggling relate to sexism? Sounds to me like ur just too bloody sensitive. It is still strange to have girls buying games so them giggling, to me anyways, can be quiet normal especially if they are ur regular nerdy virgins. IMO people who jump to the "sexist" conclusion are often sexist themselves or are just thick and don't really know what sexism entails.

I have to agree, your reaction to them giggling when you asked why they were laughing was a bit of a major overreaction. Other than that, putting up broken products for display is really piss-poor practice, and laughing about it when the customer points it out is even worse.

As for the specs being wrong, next time you see it just tell them it's against the CPA. They should change their tune rather fast once threats start getting bandied about.
 
@toni - if i was you I would have spoken to the manager about the displays and - if you feel strongly about it - the staff's attitude.
And hopefully the next time you go there you may see a differance?? - and if you dont then contact the HO.

Yeah, I have to agree. Giggling about what a customer wants to buy is the most puerile and unprofessional demeanour there is.

I'd say just never use them again and get on with your life. Manager probably wouldn't give a shit either. It's Incredible Connection, not exactly the world's most demanding business when it comes to staff selection. It's basically Pick 'n Pay for IT.

I am done with Incredible Disconnection. I will never purchase anything from them. As for Simon well it is his choice where he wishes to shop.

Thanks for all the advice given and honest opinions to my thread, although some were harsh, no hard feelings.:)

By the way any of you had a personal bad experience with incredible connection?

The thing is, I doubt they were being sexist or judging you. They might have been a bit childish, but I don't think there was any malicious intent behind it.

Nope nothing terribly bad at ours and if there is a problem with like the display or ad, the Manager fixes the problem quickly if you tell him.

Got a very good printer for half price since ad was wrong and he took the responsibility for the company error.

But the Cavendish/Canal walk one in Cape Town is terribad
 
I've had nothing but good experiences at IC. The giggling you are referring to seems more like they were being friendly and playful towards you. That is something that you should admire about them as it shows their human side and thats exactly what we are always asking the corporates to do.

Nope, it was unprofessional and she had every reason to be upset.
I had a similar experience at IC close to the east rand mall, where two of the guys were laughing at my gf at the time because she asked whether she could get a version of Tekken for the Xbox. Instead of telling her, Tekken wasn't a Xbox title they laughed and thought it was funny. Their attitude changed when I came walking up behind her and asked what they were laughing at.

When dealing with a client/customer you ALWAYS have to be professional!!

IC is useless an any way, they add insane mark ups, they have unprofessional, ignorant staff 80% of the time, they offer no real value or service, its just shocking to me that they are actually still around.

Agreed , well the one at the Gateway in Durban is no better , reading trough this it seems that , standing around and not helping is a job requirement.
I have had nothing but bad experience with them , staff that have little or no idea about anything IT related , I remember explaining HDD cache size to one of the guys , And once when I was really desperate and needed a Notebook for a client went in to the store , and none of the 6 guys standing there even attempted to help or even ask if I needed help, long story short guys rushed when I decided which one I wanted, bump in to the manager and explained to him what happened , he could not care less So I went to Dion Wired .
 
It boils down to bad management at certain stores. 90% of the time there will 10 sales assistants assing around - with one guy actually helping customers. Some managers even keep stock for themselves and/or pillage any clearance sales that may come around. Still, some of their stores have been good to me over the years.

Same thing occurred with us we stand around and shout on the top of voices we have R3000 spend on a laptop and still no one cares even if you threaten to go some where else.sales people just don't care.

Their sales staff are in it for the sale, they have little to no training or expertise in the products they are selling. Buying components from them are always a mission and they seem to focus on selling software and pre-assembled hardware. What i expect from a company if I buy things from them is to have some technical understanding of the product they are attempting to sell.
 
Yeah, sexist or not, you don't laugh/giggle at your customer regardless. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable.
 
If a girl walks into my shop to buy a game, I would be impressed, not giggle. ;)

Also, nobody working at Incredible Connection would be professional, as working there is not a "profession". It's more like a college job. Hence the attitude and immaturity of the employees.
 
Well Toni made a complaint on Hello Peter website. Incredible Connection responded saying, "Hello stp07, Our store management will contact you in this regard, Kind Regards Incredible Connection." Very common response.
They have contacted her via phone and I am sure she will now say what was said.
 
My friend bought an XBox with Kinect Bundle from an IC in Cape Town area, then got home to find there was an old scratched XBox inside and no kinect or controls. He took it back, and they said "it's not possible, that must be his old stuff". After losing his cool, they found that the one that was supposed to be in his box was on display (serial numbers matched) so they said they will get him another one when they get stock (All stores in CPT was out of stock of that package deal). They said he can go to Tygervalley to get a new one. When he got to tygervalley, the shop had closed down due to the renovations :eek:

After a Helopeter complaint, they magically found one and delivered it, and a R500 IC voucher, to him at work on the same day

They are dealing with her complaint lets await the outcome.

Every single business would have good and bad stories and most likely more good than bad so making a thread about being good or bad isnt going to solve anything.

Joking about her POV of the situation isn't helping either . Every one has their own way of perceiving things. You might think nothing of the person giggling but she didn't think it was nothing and its her right to voice the complaint.

Bad service in store should not have an excuse. Go to the manager and if he is not inclined to help you remember he has a boss, Ask for his regional manager . You as a customer should be helped and that is how it is. Ive had no problems with IC and had good service when i did buy from them.

I myself work for Incredible Connection although i don't have anything to do with their stores, I work at head office. I don't like to see the company I work for get tarnished on a forum I post in every day.
