So, WoW.

Just started playing last week, and I'm already rocking a level 48 human Protection Paladin. Still have to buy Lich King and Cataclysm, but I can still go up to 70, as far as I know. Having lots of fun, though, and it's really beyond addictive.

I'm playing on the Burning Legion server, as I love high-population, PvP servers. If anybody wants to hit me up for a dungeon or something, character's name is Zewp.
I'm also looking for a new guild, as the one I'm currently in is international, and mostly has foreigners using the guild chat.

Edit: I also have a question about PvP servers. Is it against the rules to go hunting for PvP. Say I'm gathering skins in Stranglethorn Vale at level 50, and I kill every single Horde character I come across, can I get banned?

Glad you're enjoying the game. :)

If you actually manage to kill enough horde to get yourself banned, I'll buy your next month's subs for you!

Chances are, if you kill even one hordie more than once, he'll log his main and camp you for the next hour. :p

No, but seriously, the nice thing about PvP servers is that you can attempt to kill anyone whenever you want. STV is the perfect place.

Heck, when horde are bored they often occupy stormwind and kill every NPC, auctionneer, banker, quest giver out there.

I think the only time that you'll be given a warning by a GM is if you're a high lvl char stalking a low lvl char and killing it non stop for hours on end.

Yeah why did you start with WoW? Why didn't you rather try out something different and newer like Rift?

I mostly started because I've had an unused WoW Classic lying around here for a few years now, and my friends recently started and asked me to start playing with them.
I dunno, I think I'll stick with WoW for a while to come. I like the lore behind it, and it's bound to keep me occupied for at least a few more months. I'll see about moving on to something else later this year.

Ah ok, if that's where your friends are then it's nice. I use to play WoW a long time back but stopped when I just couldn't afford the time investment anymore, and now I'm playing Rift instead. I've found Rift to be much better suited if you only have 30 minutes to kill here and there.

So Rift doesn't up your time quite like WoW? That's certainly a good quality in any MMO. It's taken me quite short to get to 48 so far, but I can already feel the levels are starting to drag on by. Used to take me under an hour to level up until about level 30, and it's started getting incrementally longer ever since.

I get the feeling that the guys from Rift put a lot of effort into letting you spend more time in game doing what you actually want to do (kill stuff) and less time watching scenery (like flying from A to Z via B C D E... or waiting for a ship). Intrazone and Interzone porticulums are instant or as fast as your PC can load, granted some areas might only have one porticulum, or a couple.

All things considered, WoW is actually a brilliant MMO to start off with. I'm glad you're enjoying it graal. :)

The guys on here can say what they will, those of us who played WoW might be bored of it now, but when we were in your shoes it was the best thing EVER.

Just wait until you get your wings... :)

I'm thinking of starting a guild once I'm 85, then calling it Border Control and letting only level 80+ join. Then when we have a ton of members, we move into one of the lower level horde areas (not a starting area, for obvious reasons), and then killing anyone who tries to come in or out. It will be glorious. :D

That said, I'm surprised Blizzard hasn't implemented more territory being able to be fought over. As far as I can tell, only that Baraden Hold (or something like that) can be fought over.

I must say I prefer PVE above PVP. The number of times that you have fun like you said above or have a fair fight somewhere is vastly inferior to the number of times you get totally annihilated by some sad kid who is either twice your level or has 4 friends who tag along.

hehehe, There will always be fond memories for most who played WoW. And I also have to admit I hated pvp (aka I was useless :P) so I stuck to pve and the raiding side, until it was time to stop and play various other games.

There was a lot more PvP in earlier times ...and keep in mind you're in a midway level now. Not much happening in your zones. As soon as you're 85 and in areas where people do dailies, you'll experience a lot more world pvp.

Silithus (kalimdor) was an open world PVP zone where you had to capture places to control the area. Wintergrasp is still running in Northrend and was a blast. It's also world based, not instanced like BH.

Wow was awesome, but I only really liked vanilla and BC. Rest just took the ip downwards IMHO, too much easification to point to just one thing wrong.

Quit while you can..

I wasted 5 years of my life in WoW. I must admit, "vanilla" WoW was the best. The expansions destroyed it and it become a bore. When people had Tier 3 from Naxx, people were like "wow.. you are the shit." Expansions just became a mass frenzy of collecting purplez.

I have to admit, the constant grinding to level up is already starting to grate on me. I started playing about an hour ago, then stopped ten minutes later because I was not in the mood to kill X amount of creatures for person Y.

I'm hoping it starts to pick up soon, because I really want to get to the endgame content.

lol, uhm, no. you think it's bad now? By the time you reach lvl 79 the total amount of XP you've earned will make you closer to lvl 1 than you are to lvl 85 :p
