This server will go by the rule of a 'working' server. This means that NOTHING will be given to players by Admins.
Also, there are only 2 Admins on the server. We are not looking for more. We aren't even looking for Mods.

There is a Plug-in called Reporter. This means players can report another player if they are misbehaving, which leaves the punishing for the Admins.
This eliminates the need for mods.

We believe this is more fair, as there won't be average players with a bit of power thinking they are God's of the server.

Please read up on some of these plug-ins, especially Factions, as it brings a whole new element to game play.

I will be updating this post with relevant information. Please feel to ask questions, and leave comments.

I used to host a MC server before, but unfortunately it was under a clan.
I had to stop due to me having to answer to a higher power, which I don't agree with.

So, I decided to put a newer, and hopefully better one up.
Due to this, I have to start everything again, such as all online interaction.

I am bust with the mentioned factors, but for now, the essential part of my service is up, which is the server.

I am still working out the kinks, but it looks like you can buy a piece of land, and that will be yours! No other can invade.
Also, if you join a faction, no one outside that faction can open the doors or chests etc in that factions land!

If you aren't satisfied with this, I will definitely add a locking plugin :D
 
Ive had experience with the faction one before. Pretty kewl. Would love a warp/tp plugin... It allows you to sethome and warp there whenever you want. also allows you to warp to main location like spawn. Best thing about it is that you can warp to other people if they accept you warp request.

Also how do you make money? I know some servers you can get jobs and open a shop. Tried to create a faction buts its 4000 Moola and I only have 30 :D

I want 3 initial factions on the server. So I will grant you the required cash to start it up. Otherwise I am still setting up shops etc.

You will gain a set interest every 30min, until you get 2k.

And also, why poach? I'm not looking to create the biggest server, but to get a userbase for the future.
Also, you provided no intellectual reason of WHY your server is the best, which I believe there is none.

Our servers are both probably Bukkit, of which I've been hosting for years now. Also, I've been hosting from before Bukkit, and even implemented a C++ server. So, my experience is quite vast in it.

Also, delay on my server is quite low, and am upgrading the host, as I now have the financial backbone to do so.
Hardware wise, I'm going to soon upgrade from the current 6gig, to 10gig's of RAM, on an i5 system.

Moreover, I believe its the common etiquette, and behaviour of the people in charge, and how the server is actually being run. That comes with a strict base line of rules that not only players, but Admin's will adhere to.
Which follows the moral 'no-poaching' code.

Nevertheless, I wish you amazing luck on your server.
 
its not my server im just putting it out there and i didnt mean any offence i will diffinetly join ur server and play on it
how do i put a url in the ip?????
 
Not a problem. Was just laying it out there.

You need to find a host that will resolve your dynamic IP to a URL.
 
Why can't I just find a LOCAL server running these mods:

BuildCraft 2, IndustrialCraft 2, Red Power 2, RailCraft, Additional Pipes, Logistic Pipes, Advanced machines for IC2, Wireless Redstone. Everyone keeps making vanilla servers with either MCMMO or an iConomy setup.

I like vanilla, but I also like building large complex installations and do large scale building mining and construction and make automated systems to transport and sort my items automatically.

This is one of the most popular mod combinations around and yet no one in South Africa even has a server like this. So please if you can setup a server for this, you will garner a lot of support from people who are yearning for a local server with these mods.





And the other server mentioned here is a good server and exceptionally managed with great people and mods who do their jobs.

Sou1Co11ector, if you can provide evidence of a userbase that would like this combination of Mods, then I will oblige.

As for why, I have no idea why local hosts don't. Personally, I haven't even known about this combination.
But, I believe in getting the server right the first time. This process involves adding in one mod at a time, and perfecting how that runs, meaning, there won't be a vast array of mods which wither glitch, don't work, or break the server.

I will, however, be looking into this. Another cause for your list not being added, is because a lot of peoples PC's cant handle Java's exponential use of RAM. My brute-force upgrades should fix that though.


As for the other server, I had never meant any ill-words. I am glad that they can provide a service, and judging by what you said, a good quality one at that. I am in no way wanting to create competition, but just provide another free service for the local community.

Doubtfully the right place for that question. But you are asking for a server mod, and to download it?
Does this mean you have a server, or are just wanting it for your client.

For the server, you need to tell what server you are running. If bukkit, go look at http://dev.bukkit.org

For your client, just ask Mr. Google.
 
You can check out Technicpack.net - They actually have a Bukkit Mod Pack already configured, it is in Beta atm but will be made a full on version that you can just download and install automatically.

I will for now add my name and my buddies to the list of people who would like those mods and will also refer people to this thread to check it out and add their names as well.

Alright. Tell you what..

When I get home, I'll set up a secondary server, under a different port, and add the mod list.

From there, you can be the Beta testers, and help make that server great, so I can publish it fully along with the current one?
