So, WoW.

I think the only time that you'll be given a warning by a GM is if you're a high lvl char stalking a low lvl char and killing it non stop for hours on end.

I doubt you'll get a warning from a GM for something like that. However, it's likely you will get camped by the guy's lv 85 guild members for some time.

Often there are complaints on the official forums about a lowbie being ganked by the opposite faction, and the usualy response is either get high level friends, suck it up or transfer to a PvE server.

Aaaand I haven't played for more than an hour since starting this thread. Suddenly got deathly tired of the constant grinding to level up. :P

Think I'll play a bit more later today, but the addiction has been broken.

Most people keep playing for the social/competitive side of things where it's about overcoming end game content with a bunch of people you enjoy playing with. Just playing the game by yourself will definitely get quite boring.

TBH wow is great socially when you just do with friends :)

The problem is I started out playing with friends on the Darkmoon Faire RP server, but moved over to PvP because I didn't like the idea that I can't just kill or be killed by any Horde player at any time.

I think my enjoyment will improve drastically if I could find a more social guild, but I don't want to leave my guild in search of another just to find that I can't get into one and lose all the guild perks.

I wouldn't have made that move knowing what I know now. Stick with your friends or you'll stop playing shortly. World PVP isn't enough of an attraction to merit abandoning your friends.

Graal, whats ur bnet name? what server are u on and what level are you on at the moment? and if you need some help with grinding theres 2 things i recommend. Do dungeons... A LOT of dungeons. queue in the DF constantly so that you get xp quickly as well as gear and then for questing go and get the Zygor cataclysm guide. A friend of mine is using it at the moment and it works wonders. it gives a step by step guide for questing as well as where to farm quest items and such in a quick and easy manner.

I've been playing a lot this past holiday with my mates, it's completely different to the days when I used to play on my own.

If you're having trouble finding a social guild just look for the ones that regularly run events pvp/raids/dungeons/fun things. A guild with a level 25 and and 900+ chars isn't necessarily social, just well established ;)

This is pretty random, but anyone here from Cape Town around 20-ish years give or take a few and play on EU?

I've been playing wow consistently since the start of pre-bc, but quit about 2 months ago due to having no RL friends to play with in-game, or simply anyone who I can talk to that can relate etc.

I'm looking at returning again in order to prepare for MoP (my main interest in wow is actually the economy, and therefore investments - with currently owning about 2 million gold). So I'm looking for people to network with either in-game via realID, on skype, or perhaps even eventually in real life.

I'm on EU silvermoon with almost all slots maxed at 85, but might consider rerolling in my spare-time to come join you on another server. Also looking for people who might be interested in teaming up to achievement / rep farm, do some casual pvp with, and a few raids.

Anyways - awkward weird, seemingly loner post over haha.

Is that site still up to date?

If you're looking for a guild, best advice I can give is to look at the WoW forum on MyBroadband. They have a stickied thread with guilds and is up to date.

No the site is hardly ever updated at all, and doesn't purge out-of-date data either. I have like 10 chars on there all displayed as level 80s still.

Check out http://www.wowgamers.co.za/ it might help you find a guild.

No that site is way out dated.. i e-mailed the owner and he told me he don't have the time anymore and he then asked if i am interested in taking it over, but it needs some new coding for the new Armory structure for wow, it's still running the old Armory structure, i have the website on me as well but it needs new coding.

Yeah sorry that is better, not sure why I didn't think about it. :)

After playing WoW for 6 years I can say it is best played with friends. Eventually you have a mindset shift and it becomes less about the loot and more about the challenge. Having said that the challenging aspects of WoW have dwindled. Some of the greats were original 4 horsemen, Mu'ru in Sunwell, Hardmode Mimiron etc. I found friends grew tired of trying to motivate guild members to raid and make progress. WoW became more about managing people than enjoying encounters I found.
I also attempted to go it alone and join a hardcore raiding guild which become more like a second job than anything else. Which made it far less fun. Looking back it was a great game and there were many hours of fun, but having close on 300 days played across all my characters I just realised that is almost a full year of hours spent inside 1 game, and when it's all done you have nothing to show for it, you leave with just the memories of past experiences, and if you are lucky some good friends too.
