Yeah, 5 hours for ONLY the main quest... And you can get to level 20 probably in that time...
The map may seem big but it doesn't take long to walk to places

Record is apparently 2 hours and 16 minutes... damn, didn't know that was possible.... You spoil the game for yourself if you do this though...

Probably done as a speed run, which is meant to do it as fast as possible. I remember that Quake 2 had a speed run of about 24 minutes for the game.

That time will probably decrease as people find easier ways of doing things.

Well, in my game I am avoiding the main quest so I can get more levels and cool stuffs!

What I don;t get, is how one guy played 5 hours and got to level 44 apparently.... this I call bullshit on!

Its due to the way leveling up happens, unlike other rpg's where you get experience by completing quests, killing stuff, and completing achievements, Skyrims way is by skill increases, so its very possible to level up without doing any quests. All you have to do is get a trainer who is also a follower, use him to train, then take your money back, rinse and repeat.
I did in the beginning and i was like 'hey, this is awesome, easy leveling' then i realised it was a bad idea.

So, I finally got me a copy of Skyrim, and I've started playing a bit. Haven't done much yet, I chose a dark elf, and I've spent some time in Riverwood, found a few farms and a meadery, and I've just discovered Whiterun. I've had to bribe a guard and lost all the cool stuff I stole, and I've killed a few wolves, some spiders, a bear, an elk and a rabbit. No dragons yet.

This game is going to take forever

Dragons only appear after a certain point in the main questline. Just follow the main quest until you have to fight the dragon at the west tower. After that, they will randomly appear.

A good place to stop doing the main quest and do whatever you want is up to the point where you have to return the horn to the greybeards. After that, you can ask them where to find shout words.

I've spent most of my time so far mucking about in villages, and I'm already hooked. I'm going to spend way too much time with this game. Looks like my wife is going to be working a lot of overtime in Feb, so at least I'll have some time on my hands though.

Mine arrived today from Kalahari... the bastards only sent it on late on Thursday after being "Ready to pack" since Monday... bastards.

Anyway, will probably start installing and exploring the game a bit over the weekend... Any idea when the new patch will come out?

Stock seems to be an issue lately. I ordered my copy from Zaps early in December. Unfortunately they had some issues with their suppliers, who only delivered about 2 of the 16 that they ordered, and then promptly closed down for the holidays, and I only got my copy last week. Apparently they had only delivered 12 copies by then as well.

I've pretty much completely lost interest in Skyrim for now. I can't even get myself to just finish the main quest at this point. The only game I want to play now is Kingdoms of Amalur; I hope I can finish Skyrim's main quest before I get it.

Any idea when the new patch will come out?

End of January it seems.

"We’re hoping to finalize [the update] next week, and submit it to the console manufacturers for certification, as well as release on PC," said Bethesda. "Our current update plan for the PC is to first release our updates as 'beta' versions through Steam. This is something you’ll be able to opt into through Steam and back-out of if needed. This is an extra safety check for everyone going forward and should expedite and improve our updating process for our PC users. We’ll have more info soon on how this will work."

Skyrim is great but I sometimes I feel a bit overwhelmed wanting to level up every thing,I've got to remember to try stick to my class.
