This might seem strange but disable your onboard sound in the bios. This helped me out. Apparently this is a longstanding problem with the engine. It happened in Bad Company as well. I bought an al'cheapo R99 sound card which resolved my issues.

You can also turn it off and play with a USB headset. I did this for a while before I was forced to go to my supplier after a power surge exploded my power supply so I picked up the sound card then.

**This is in no way an attack on your pc savyness**

At startup spam the delete key to get into the bios.
Select Integrated peripherals
Turn off the onboard sound. It's named something like HD audio device or somesuch.
Save and exit.

I would have tried that, but for some reason there's a manufacturer password on the bios. I tried googling manufacturer/backdoor passwords for my G31T-M2 motherboard but nothing worked.

Thats strange, it must be a prebuilt system as I have never had that happen to me before

The Fix basically just removes the Ability of the Server to Kick for Restrictions, we have not applied the fix to our servers Race
Ahh thx jeez I got so gatvol last night trying to play....

All was fine I could play no worries but somehoe last night the gremlins stalked me....

Very odd indeed. Seems that machine was prebuilt or it was purchased from a previous owner who forgot to mention the password.

You could try clearing the CMOS or removing the CMOS battery.

You can either do this by shorting two jumper headers on your motherboard, usually labelled PSWD or CLEAR. Or by removing the CMOS battery for around five minutes.

This day will have go down in history books, but...

I took the plunge. Ordered a key on Ezykey.net. I figured what the hell, the keys are all technically legal and can be activated anywhere, I just need to download the English language pack. For R160, I'm willing to take a chance, considering it used PayPal and I can just lodge a dispute with them if need be.

So, either way, Origin is chugging along in the background (I'm keeping a close eye on it to see whether it does anything scaly), now just waiting for my key to be delivered. Anyone know how big the download is, more or less? I almost recall it being 14gb, but I'm not sure. Going to take a while on my 1meg connection.

And on that topic, I've only got a 1meg connection here. Back at my flat it's back to 384. Should I be able to play BF3 alright on the 384?

Yes as long as you don't have anyting else open

Wow, key sent, it works and now I'm busy downloading. Just one issue. Origin states that it's downloading at 230kb/s, which is impossible on a 1meg line. If it had been a 4meg line running a 1meg account, maybe.

Anyone else encounter this issue? If I look at what Origin says it has downloaded, it seems to be downloading at that speed. It claims to have downloaded 50mb in under 5 minutes.

Edit: Even the data in the download folder corresponds with what Origin is saying.

Edit edit: Fuck me. The download speed is also continuously climbing. At 270kb/s now. This can't be right. :O

oh nice ... i have a question tho related to the wage 32 man tdm server, almost everytime i join that server its really laggy and most of the players complain about the lag. is it possible to change it to a normal 24 man server? unless you guys solved the problem

It has been changed to a 16 slot TDM with SDM aftwards.

My patch download also reported about triple the speed of my 1mb line. Got about 380KB/s on my 1mb line. I don't think Origin reports either the speed, or download size correctly.

I also had this double the normal download speed 200KB/s on my 1 meg and a friend with 80KB/s on his 384. It seems to be a BF3 thing though cus I've been downloading another game on Origin (free coupon!) and that reflects normal speeds for my line. Not sure why it happens but enjoy it while it lasts :)
