This might seem strange but disable your onboard sound in the bios. This helped me out. Apparently this is a longstanding problem with the engine. It happened in Bad Company as well. I bought an al'cheapo R99 sound card which resolved my issues.
You can also turn it off and play with a USB headset. I did this for a while before I was forced to go to my supplier after a power surge exploded my power supply so I picked up the sound card then.
**This is in no way an attack on your pc savyness**
At startup spam the delete key to get into the bios.
Select Integrated peripherals
Turn off the onboard sound. It's named something like HD audio device or somesuch.
Save and exit.
I would have tried that, but for some reason there's a manufacturer password on the bios. I tried googling manufacturer/backdoor passwords for my G31T-M2 motherboard but nothing worked.
