Graphics Card specials... or somehting

But wait.... there's more.... Nvidia is not lagging too far behind with their Kepler based cards and not too shabby in pricing either!

Have a look! http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/25844-full-kepler-lineup-revealed

You'll notice in the article they mention lenzfire...They are known for posting rubbish.
Wait for official specs to be revealed by Nvidia. No one knows anything about Kepler.
There are no details available at this time.

LOL at the claim of it being 45% faster than the 7970 xD lmfao.
No benchmarks, no specs, no nothing yet they come up with such bullshit lol

That 45% is a remarkable claim if true, but I find it very hard to believe. Guess we will see when they are eventually released...

I say wait. You can find a Nvidia 550ti for around R1400 online if you know where to look. But it's like Joker said, it's only 192bit which makes it slower then the 256bit 6790 at the same price. I'll wait for the new AMD range. I am quite excited about it. AMD fanboy here.

I personally believe there's nothing wrong with Inno3D's range of cards. That reminds me, why don't we really get HIS range of cards in SA?

*EDIT*

Also for interests sake, I took a 120mm fan and attached it to the cooler on my current graphics card. Now there's no speed setting for the fan so it runs at a constant speed of 1600rpm, at a noise level of about 30dBA, even on load. So it never really gets very loud and it's about 10C cooler both ways. Which is quite nice.

Joker, which review sites do you mostly visit?

Guru had a article a while back about the specs after a nvidia tech conference. Guru3D is kinda on the ball with these things and the rumored specs they had was almost double those of the 580GTX. A predicted 35% increase on the 580GTX.

Joking around about Kepler

@Joker,

I wish I could have had a 7970 like you. I'm a AMD/ATI fan as I have the 6870 now which gives me great performance. It's just a shame that I feel we get screwed in ZA with the inflated prices for all cards.... I only hope with Kepler that prices will be given a knock. You make valid points and i do value your reply to which I agree in the fullest extent. Just a quick question - what is your voltage on your i7 set at to run at 4.8? I pushed my i5 to 4.5 but then get a blue screen (second clock not receiving interupt or something to that regard) I'm running a MSI Z68 board. My voltage is set to 1.28 for the 4.2

Thx dude.

I agree Guru is on the ball, but they don't have any info. I know this for a fact.
So it is just a rumor. Wait for official specs, and Benchmarks. Claiming a card is 35-45% faster than the current 7970 without any proof, is pointless.

Do I sense a case of post purchase dissonance/
runs :D lol

Lmao :D
Neah If the kepler series is faster I'll buy one, but untill I see benches and hard facts...Its still a myth xD

Well then you know what? Screw you for having money to splash about on a new gpu just because its faster lol :D

LOL xD Meanie xD

@ Samildanach

Clocks vary from chip to chip.
I've had i5's that hit 4.6 and wouldn't go further. I know of people, heretic being one of them that had a i5 2500k that ran 5ghz no issue. As for the i7, Some guys run them at 5Ghz under a proper water loop, I found that the one i7 I have was perfect at 4.8Ghz but would not be stable at 4.9Ghz, so didn't bother with it. Also I don't really overclock xD That was just to see what the chip could run.

That pc is in bits at the moment, having it Airbrushed :)

I know this is way off subject, but seeing as this is a thread I created...

I've been thinking about doing some insane custom DIY designs for cases and the hardware included. Such as unique vinyl stickers to go on your graphics card's cooler. I've done it before and was wondering, if anyone here would like something like that? I've done it on almost all kinds of hardware, even mounting unique small plaques on motherboards and other areas.

Good idea or not?

I am busy doing this as well, There are a lot of things to consider as I have been finding out over last few days.
Such as warranty issues, Heat issues, making it scratch proof ect ect.
Been going through a long list xD Its not cheap though, this airbrush job being done on my one chassis will cost around R2000.
Also stickers for coolers, don't last..The heat from the cards always end up making the edges pull up off the cards.

Btw busy doing a Diablo 3 Airbrush job :D Thanx Heretic for the idea.

Also looking at giving away a custom painted chassis..Will have a chat to James about that once its ready.

Ah but I use Industrial vinyl. So it's used to baking in the sun and they've lasted me quite a while. I remove the cooler and very carefully use a heat gun to get the glue to stick. No air bubbles nothing. I guess you have to inform the customer on things like that, if a plaque is placed here you will lose your warranty.

In any case, doing a airbrush job is expensive yeah. But most people who work in that department are pretty good with it.

I also played around with a CNC machine the other day and cut a side panel up, did a nice little design on it and then added perspex behind it. Came out looking really nice.

Yeah it would work but you will lose warranty on the hardware instantly.
It is awesome but there are some good and bad points.

I still think there is nothing better than owning a custom designed chassis with custom paint and parts.

Specially if omeone went the extra distance with threaded cabling and a custom cooling sulotion.

Would my ODIN 470 run a 5870 fine?

Mmmm I don't think so, The 5870 is a older gen card, it still packs a mighty punch but I reckon it needs at least 550w, again it depends on you're system. Forget about older gen cards for now xD Just wait for the new stuff...its less than a week away lol

It's just... R1000 for that card is extremely tempting. Specially due to the fact that it's still under warranty and the previous owner only used it for a month. been lying in it's box the last few months. About 6 months old now. A jewel if you ask me.

Although it doesn't matter, I have no money. I'll have to wait till after the 25th no matter how badly I want something. No amount of begging will let someone give a graphics card away for free... unless.

UNLESS!

Yes! I have it! I'll make up a soppy story about my non-existent sister who just got robbed and lost everything and I need to use a high power graphics card to... emulate all her projects on a big lcd screen. I have a winner here! :p

Damn good price that.
I would grab it, if there is warranty remaining and the guy has the pop.
Then go for it/

Case modding with cutting out designs from the side of the case then putting perspex behind is something I have been wanting to get into as well. What tools do you use to do this?
