Hardware: The evolution of display ports

Nice article Q.

You did forget about the Wireless Tesla-transmission Port that I am working on, which will provide unlimited bandwidth. Only one kink I have to sort before this goes into production, as I doubt every user would wear an electrostatic cage whilst operating his PC.

Haha, I'll forward your "nice article" to Derrick, who wrote it xD - to be honest I probably learned more from it than anyone, I just usually find the right adapter to plug into the hole that fits without giving it much more thought than that :)

Oh... Just saw your forum link :)

I have to say, all the Display port and eyefinity stuff on the interwebs was TL;DR, so this article taught me a thing or two too.

Useful and informative, thanks!

Ironically I got a new Macbook pro last week and bought an adaptor for the thunderbolt port. Its thunderbolt to DVI, works perfectly when I plug in a second monitor, but when I try use a DVI > VGA adaptor for the projector here at college (for teaching) it seems to fall over. Trying to troubleshoot it, should I get a different adaptor or could the projector be at fault, hmmmmmmm

The converter you have is digital(TB->DVI), where your dvi to vga is then analog. You may need to get a straight converter from Thunderbolt to VGA?

The above is a guess. Try the projector on another pc and ensure it works first.

Good suggestion, thanks, think I need to look for TB straight to VGA, if that exists. The projector does work but plugs into an old adaptor on one of the imacs in the lecture room.

Nice article, also learned a thing or two from it. Very informative, never really understood the thunderbolt thing until now.. thanks.
