BT Games reveals XL concept stores

hmm, mistake. Blue route is under construction, grand opening is 29 march. The btgames there however only opens on 1st of april...

While the concept of making a "more interactive" store is a good one (the staff in most of these stores tend to ignore you, so touch screens should fix that problem), I agree with the opinion shared by the majority of posters in this thread. Get your online presence sorted out, as it is useless.

I would much rather interact with the shop shelves than the staff.
What is it about those okes?

QFT. The BT Games staff are remarkably rude and unhelpful.

How about spending the money on staff training, or paying them more so they don't look like they're about to slash their wrists all over your purchase?

+ 1 million gazillion to this comment.

One would receive better assistance if they bought their games from the department of home affairs.

What exactly do you need assistance with?? All they need is till operators, which I think they have already. I prefer it that they don't bother me.

The site does need an overhaul though.

I've lost count of the number of times I've been in to BT Games Fourways to pick up a game only to have the staff tell me there's no stock (in their typically rude fashion). Once I was even told, "Maybe you should pre-order it next time, buddy"; had I not been in a rush to get to Zaps before closing I would've gone all Samuel L Jackson on that punk.

Yeah, BTGames staff are notoriously rude. I think they should first focus on actually catering to gamers with their franchise. Right now they're possibly the worst gaming retailer out there.

I don't even bother with Canal Walk's BT anymore, as the staff in there are one snide comment away from having their store lynched. Last time I was there their staff were openly mocking the appearance of one the customers in the store. Not so that he could hear it, obviously, but not soft enough that the customers closer to them couldn't hear it either. I simply left in disgust. I honestly don't know where they get their employees.

Between their shit attitudes and their system not working, I can't be arsed with them any longer. I've once had a pre-order with them, then sat waiting around on release day, just to have nothing arrive and find out that they didn't notify any of the customers that the pre-order had been delayed by a few months. I also once had an incident where I pre-ordered a game weeks in advance, just to get to their shop in Tygervalley and have them tell me the pre-order doesn't reflect on their system.

Also, they make you pay extremely high delivery fees, even on pre-orders, when places like Kalahari and TakeAlot deliver for free on anything over R250. They wanted to charge me R100 to deliver a game to Stellenbosch, because it's apparently not close to any main centers. :/

There honestly is no reason left for anyone to continue using BTGames. It seems it and Incredible Connection are in a constant competition for who can be the worst retailer.

I haven't had any problems with them so far, but Incredible Connection has usually been a problem shop. My gf just gives me sour looks whenever I suggest we go in there nowadays.

You might not have a problem in there, because you seem quite tech savvy (being on a gaming forum and all), but I have seen parents bursting into a BT Games, looking for assistance with something that their child wants to play. Sometimes they ask for recommendations, or if the staff think that the game is appropriate for their children (people don't really pay attention to ESRB/fPb ratings).

Interactive terminals on the wall will sort this issue out quite quickly, provided that they are more intelligent than the scum that sit behind the counter at BT, who don't know the answers to anything that a parent might ask).

FOOTNOTE:
I was once in the BT Games branch in Westgate, where a staff member actually informed a parent that the game (GTA: San Andreas) their child was trying to purchase is rated 18 and contained plenty of adult stuff, which is good. But I have been informed that the person does not work there anymore.

There is one reason and it's usually the only reason I still buy games from them and it's their specials. They sometimes have some very good specials, as an example I got the inFamous 2 hero edition from them for a mere R400.

I can relate to that. I have had some steals there. But then again, online retailers have some pretty awesome specials of their own.
