Mouse Under R450

Hey what's up guys. Can you guys recommend me a mouse that's under R450. DPI must be in the 3000's. Any brand will do as long as it's good. Will be using it mostly for Cod4 and BF3.

Whatever you do, just don't get a Microsoft mouse. Don't know about the newer models, but I picked up a Sidewinder X3 for about R350, and it's horrible.

The R.A.T. series is apparently very good mice, though. I saw Matrix Warehouse selling the R.A.T. 5(I think it was the 5) for R500 a while back. It's a bit over your budget, but if it's as good as people are claiming, it might be worth looking into.
 
I would really love to know why you need a mouse with 3000 DPI, I have an MX518 (1800dpi) and 99% of the time I only use it on medium (900dpi) setting. 3000dpi works out to 18.75 dots per millimeter. There is just no way your movement is that precise.

DPI seems to be the contrast ratio of the mouse industry. A better metric to use would probably be IPS (inches per second).
 
The answer is obvious. Roccat Kova(+) all the way.
Multicolour lights, changeable dpi on the go, hassle free installation, long tangle free cable, amazingly comfortable, ambi dexterous and I have one well the normal kova... so it must be great.

Ye bud, I'd also like to know the whole idea behind this hectic DPI thing.
I mean I mostly run mine at 800DPI in the software (maybe sometimes switch it to 1200 or 1800 on the fly when I'm flying or something). And then the fact that in game my sensitivity is set very low also

When I try and be funny and set my mouse to 5600DPI I can't even find my cursor on my screen... so why even give that option.

Maybe I'm just a newbie in regard to this, but it all just seems a bit weird to me also

Personally I'll vouch for Razer products also. I've had top end products from all the major guys and there are allot of them out there that are really good but man, I have never been as happy as I am with my Razer Mamba.

Go see if you can find an article about "the truth behind contrast ratio's", at least that is what I think the name was. It's an article done by a professional calibration expert with a PhD in physics. He basically goes through all the numbers you see on TV marketing and explain how they are all bullshit and just there to put numbers on their products to make them look better than competitors. One of the main reasons this happens is because typically performance just isn't that clear cut and getting proper measurements is generally difficult to either obtain or understand.

So like I said, it's easy to crank out high DPI mice and bam there we go, check at the numbers, but the real meat of performance is in the number they don't give you, stuff like maximum velocity (inches per second) and input latency.

It's almost like if cars manufactures only gave you information about the engine size, yet when you look at it, power output, torque, turbo lag and gear ratios are all more important that just the engine size and aren't always correlated.
 
DPi only really matters when you're working on big screens with much higher resolutions. On smaller screens running smaller-average resolutions, it is going to feel weird. At least that's how it was explained to me by Geoff Burrows.

Personally, I use 2000DPi when playing games like FPS games, but when I work in Windows or play games that require me to be able to click with pin-point accuracy (like RTS or Citybuilding), I switch it down to anywhere between 800 and 1500 DPi.

How the hell do you play FPS on 200DPI? Thats crazy man. For me the most important thing on a gaming mouse is DPI changer close to the fingers and side buttons for push to talk and whatever.
