Grim Dawn

So basically your only reason for preferring Grim Dawn is that it isn't D3, interesting.

You understand that fanboyism means supporting one thing over another without reason? I'm not really sure a game taking less time to be made can count as a plausible reason.

OK come now let's try a little harder. :) Seriously I want to know why people are so excited for this game.

I'm not sure myself, while Titan Quest was okay, it just didn't have staying power. Blizzard games just have that special kind of magic.

Titan's Quest was fun but even if Iron Lore was still around today making AAA titles I wouldn't just immediately say it's going to be awesome or better than Diablo 3, let alone just a handful of guys from IL working on a game in their spare time.

Nevertheless I'd still be interested to see what they can do.

I don't believe you grasp the seriousness of this situation. Wait...no, actually you do, since you presumed me to be serious about the development cycle thing.

I think we should just agree that I'm a raging fanboy, stop this words-badminton and get on with the task at hand: the promotion of Grim Dawn in this thread (god knows there are more than enough Diablo III threads on the web - did I hear someone say 'oversaturation'? Oh ya, that was me).

Conclusion: I'm very much excited about both Grim Dawn and Diablo III, I would just prefer to play Grim Dawn because I frequently make love to Titan Quest, which is a game you can and should still play today (Diablo II looks atrocious now).

Notice how I always mention GD before D3? It has nothing to do with the ABC's, by the way.

I dunno, if I had to play a Diablo clone today it would be Sacred 2. I had much more fun playing that than Titan Quest, but it's a personal preference.

D2 will alway be a classic! But it is sooo different from Titan quest that it's hat to say one is better than the other. Yes, both are pointy hack n slash loot orientated RPGs but thats where the similarities ended.

They have such different settings, moods and classes that for anyone who enjoys the genre they would really have to play both. What was always amazing for me about Titan Quest was the amazing char builds you could design. I spent hours studying skill trees optimizing class choices whereas D2 was way more simplified and linear.

As far a D3 is concerned I can't wait for it! But this persistently online BS leaves a sour taste in my south African mouth. Grim Dawn has that indie flair that will make any underdog lover drool! I think they'll both be fantastic. One game that has escaped mention here so far is torchlight 2...the deva really look like they're going to make the sequel awesome!

Titan Quest got better when you played the campaign on harder difficulties, the strengths and weaknesses of your build really started to matter. I get the feeling that people didn't realize the level of depth TQ had. People still play now and the community is very active.

I'm more excited about Grim Dawn because I played TQ a lot and I know I will enjoy it. Diablo 3 looks really flat from the beta footage. If I wanted to play an online only ARPG I'd play Path of Exile. It just looks better from a gameplay perspective with almost unlimited depth judging from the size of its skill tree (compare that with Diablo 3).

Wow! That skill tree just blew my mind! Have a friend in the alpha/beta. Not sure which one? Should maybe try get into it! Looks pretty awesome!

FFX Sphere grid, I really enjoyed that system but tbh it looks more daunting than it is. :)
