Mass Effect 3 Thread

Yeah it was weird. At first I thought they were just building up to something epic :p

I had several Epic fights last night in the final push. They really did up the difficulty, my lvl 58 & a half Soldier had a though run not like in ME2 where my lvl 30 soldier basically skipped through the entire suicide mission without dying once.

Only bugs I encountered were character models randomly disappearing during convos. Other than that, I'm impressed with how bug-free the game was.

I had a couple, but nothing serious.
If characters looked away for some reason during the conversation, they don't look back afterwards and their head is turned 90-180 degrees for the rest of the conversation which kinda looks freaky.
Also on the Krogan world, there is a big open space where I couldn't proceed further. I later figured out it was because I was supposed to kill a harvester first but the bastard never showed up. Had to load from a saved game a couple of times until the harvester decided to grace me with his presence so I can kill him.
Couple of minor other things that I can't remember now (which should in itself be an indication of just how minor they are)

While the character animations where good some of the facial expressions where down right eerie. Especially Anger....

Maybe they figured you need to see it. Dont think there was one cutscene I wanted to skip through.

I've started a second playthrough and there were a couple that I would have wanted to skip. Is especially annoying if something happened and you have to reload from a save and sit through it again. Was a couple of instances of that as far as I can remember.

Just unlocked the Asari Vanguard as well as my Geth Pulse Rifle from a Spectre pack.

Best. Day. Evar!

Scratch that. I just played a match with what was quite possibly the biggest bunch of morons ever.

Words are not enough to describe how stupid the things are that they did throughout the match. It's a good thing this game does not have text chat, because I would have been swearing like one of those players I so hate to play multiplayer with.

I just finished it, on Insanity, and chose the "green" ending and I can honestly say I dont see what all the fuss is about. I'll go have a ready through the novels written of the level of "shit" the ending is but I will say that if it had been my call, I would have finished it the exact same way.

@Omega, I went with the same option as it tied in well with the rest of my choices in the game. The end was a bit different to what most probably expected but I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of most books I've read actually , the way that the story closes with a little sliver of hope for something new to follow later.

Did you remember to stay until the end of the credits ?

Spoiler Alert:

ALLL THE FKING ENDINGS are the same so no matter what you did earlier in the game of even the prev 2 games.Does not matter how you got there since you only have 3 options and the only diffrence is the color since sheperd dies, mass relay's get destroy and the normandy crashes.

That's the short of it.

“Every decision you've made will impact how things go. The player's also the architect of what happens."

“You'll get answers to everything. That was one of the key things. Regardless of how we did everything, we had to say, yes, we're going to providesome answers to these people.”

“Because a lot of these plot threads are concluding and because it's being brought to a finale, since you were a part of architecting how they got to how they were, you will definitely sense how they close was because of the decisions you made and because of the decisions you didn't make”

“For people who are invested in these characters and the back-story of the universe and everything, all of these things come to a resolution in Mass Effect 3. And they are resolved in a way that's very different based on what you would do in those situations.”

“Fans want to make sure that they see things resolved, they want to get some closure, a great ending. I think they’re going to get that.”

“Mass Effect 3 is all about answering all the biggest questions in the lore, learning about the mysteries and the Protheans and the Reapers, being able to decide for yourself how all of these things come to an end.”

Interviewer: “So are you guys the creators or the stewards of the franchise?”

Hudson: “Um… You know, at this point, I think we’re co-creators with the fans. We use a lot of feedback.”

Interviewer: [Regarding the numerous possible endings of Mass Effect 2] “Is that same type of complexity built into the ending of Mass Effect 3?”

Hudson:“Yeah, and I’d say much more so, because we have the ability to build the endings out in a way that we don’t have to worry about eventually tying them back together somewhere. This story arc is coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different. At this point we’re taking into account so many decisions that you’ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff. It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C.....The endings have a lot more sophistication and variety in them.”

“We have a rule in our franchise that there is no canon. You as a player decide what your story is.”

ITS A FUCKING GAME. The endings in ME1 & ME2 also only differed in the slightest variations. Is Bioware the first developer that aimed for the stars but made it only to the moon? If I got upset everytime a game didn't deliver on the pre-release hype I would be pissed off all the time. I've said it before and I'll say it again, all choice in games are illusions, there is no choice because the paths are set out by people and no dev team can account for every possible choice you could want to make. How I experienced the game was that my choices changed the galaxy as a whole and I got to see the effects straight away, did the quarians get their planet back, did I cure the genophage all those choices you made along the way resolved parts of the plot. The ending is just that, a less than 5 minute cut scene that leaves a hell of a lot to the imagination just like every decent sci-fi novel of note. It lets you the player imagine what you want, how the characters you grew to care about lived on or didn't. But no you want it tied up with a neat little bow that explains everything and doesn't leave any blanks. Why the fuck would I want a ending that ties the game off one or even 12 particular ways?

You dont have to agree with me just like I dont have to agree with you. You dont have to like my opinion but for the love of pete stop fucking complaining about the last 5 minutes of a 50 odd hour game. People are going ON AND ON AND ON about the god damn ending(s) and its the smallest part of the entire series, they are ignoring the most significant part of a truly great game in lieu of complain because the developers didn't spell out exactly what happened and left it up to the imagination.

And why the fuck can't those of us who like the ending, like it for what it is?

If your ending sucked. Play it a second time, do things differently maybe .. but to complain about an ending you didn't like .. Hm!

If your ending sucked. Play it a second time, do things differently maybe .. but to complain about an ending you didn't like .. Hm!

Thats just It even if you play diffrently its the same... Thats why they are mad since your choice does not matter in the end since its the same dam ending.

tl;dr

and

u mad bro?

Also, for someone who pissed his pants about possible spoilers a few days back, nice spoilers you got there.

Also also, there's a major difference between not living up to hype and not delivering on explicit promises. For someone who struts around this place as if he is the most 'enlightened' person here, I'd expect that to be a pretty easy distinction to make.

If your ending sucked. Play it a second time, do things differently maybe .. but to complain about an ending you didn't like .. Hm!

That's just the thing, though. There isn't such a thing as 'my' ending. The only difference between 'my' ending and the next guy's ending is a different color explosion.

You dont have to like my opinion but for the love of pete stop fucking complaining about the last 5 minutes of a 50 odd hour game.

No. Who are you to tell us what we can or can't do around here?

Ken Levine and other videogame auteurs respect the finished product.

No matter which side you fall on the argument, it's clear that the ending of Mass Effect 3 has divided the videogame community like nothing else has ... since BioWare's last non-MMO game. Other game designers are especially invested in how BioWare decides to handle the controversy. Speaking at a symposium to celebrate the art of videogames at the Smithsonian in Washington DC, Paul Barnett from BioWare-Mythic said that if games are to be considered art then the audience must respect the creators' right to make the game as they see fit. Ken Levine from Irrational Games - currently working on BioShock Infinite - chimed in to say that even if BioWare wrote a new ending, the audience still would be disappointed and that the whole thing made him "sad".

"If computer games are art than I fully endorse the author of the artwork to have a statement about what they believe should happen," said Barnett. "Just as J.K. Rowling can end her books and say that is the end of Harry Potter. I don't think she should be forced to make another one."

Those gathered to hear the discussion loudly applauded Barnett's words. When the ovation died down, Ken Levine made sure to express his opinion on the controversy surrounding the ending of Mass Effect 3 because he saw this as a watershed moment in gaming.

"I think this is an important moment," he said.

"I think if those people got what they wanted and (BioWare) wrote their ending they would be very disappointed in the emotional feeling they got because ... they didn't really create it," Levine said.

"This whole thing is making me a little bit sad because I don't think anyone would get what they wanted if that happened."

I agree it gets really annoying in places, nothing like diving around like an idiot instead of taking cover or taking cover instead of running. Died during one mission last night because he just wouldn't take cover.
