New Graphic Card, or SSD?

Lol KuGa that wasnt nerd rage :)

I am really curious though, did your actual FPS/lag in game improve as well or was it just load times. You say "With an SSD and RAM caching, your whole gameplay experience WILL improve as well as opposed to having a crappy mechanical hard drive as a main OS/games drive." so I was just curious.

I was always under the impression the only noticeable difference is load times, maybe I was wrong :)

Lol :P

FPS = No.
Overall lag = Yes.

Basically your overall gameplay will be smoother. I noticed this difference in Skyrim mainly. When running into new areas, on a mechanical hard drive, there would be a slight delay in loading new textures and scenery etc. With the SSD, it was gone.

I don't have an SDD but surely you'd only see in game performance improvement when the RAM is depleted and ur pc has to go fetch from your hard drive again.
I really can't see a battlefield map requiring more than 4GB ram.
Time and again it's been shown that a gfx upgrade almost always brings the best performance boost!

That is the exact reason a SSD is good for new flight sims.
As for the rest, a GPU is by far the better option, if you ahve the cash to splash on both then I don't see a reason not too.

On a different note... Is a 60 GB SSD big enough or should one just rather save up for a 120GB instead..?

Guys can someone please tell me, those of you who say GET SDD.
Except for windows / program load times and game loading times (which is generally only like 10-20 seconds anyway) what else makes SSD's so great?

My PC is not used solely for gaming... I would say 90% work and 10% gaming... hence I say SSD. And also, If I upgraded from a 5770, it would not be to a 6870 but to a much later card...

I would say GPU, but aim a bit higher me thinks. SSD's are a nice to have. Won't boost game performance much, only loading times. My bf3 maps load in under 5 seconds, but then you have to wait anyways while the other guys load before the map goes live, so it's a bit moot.

a SSD will make no difference to you're gaming experience, unless you play flight sims.
The only thing you'll notice with a ssd are the loading times of games being cut down dramtically but that doesn't alter you're gaming experience.

Where as the 6870 is a much better card than the 5770.

Yup. It's just the way games operate. :)

On the other hand, if he moves his swap file to the SSD, and the OS on the standard HDD, his RAM + Virtual Ram combo speeds will increase. But nothing dramatic enough worth dancing about.

As I understand it - the ssd would be for general pc speed increase, while having no impact on gaming performace (besides load times). So if you're considering a product to increase gaming performance then the gpu is your choice!
