Man murdered over Counter-Strike dispute

Why do I get the feeling that the headlines looked something like this: "Video game claims another life".
Somehow the games always get the blame instead of the psychos.

The original SAPA headline was: PHILIPPINE MAN MURDERED IN VIDEO GAME ROW

I changed the headline to hopefully more accurately represent the fact of the situation.

I'm sure we'll find many news headline examples of video gaming in general being blamed for this murder.

It could easily have been "man murdered over gambling dispute" but then that wouldn't be news and no-one would care.

It's basically the same thing as 'Man gets killed due to dispute of cow ownership' or 'Man dies in scuffle over cheating girlfriend'.

The only reason this even made the news is because putting 'murder' and 'videogame' in the same sentence draws attention.

Doesn't surprise me at all, some of those people from that country is in a completely different mindstate. Some people there earn less than $30 a month.

Actually, you see lots of headlines like that on the news feeds.

I just hate it reading/hearing news that some kid killed some kid/s and they found "a computer" with "a violent" game on it and then it's the games fault. Where are the parents, teachers, friends in the story ? "Videogame" sounds more like an excuse.

jeepers, to kill someone over about R64! Scary that some people don't have to get into character - they're sickos by deafault.

note to self - no playing games at the internet cafe... only at home gainst people far, far away..

Actually the CS dispute was just a cover up. The attacker actually stabbed the guy because he left during a dota game countdown.

This is nothing a few years ago in england two guys were playing fifa and the one guy started to hit his friend over the head with a ps2 phat just cos he lost the game

Funny I just recently watched an episode of Bullshit that deals with this exact mentality of 'entertainment' causing violence in individuals. Penn and Teller do have their own agendas when doing this show but the points they bring up are so gosh darn pertinent and relevant. If you can track it down, give it a watch.

Oh they may actually give a nine year old gamer a real gun, you know just to see if he goes on a rampage.

Spoiler alert! He doesn't.
