Guild Wars 2

ArenaNet has posted a list of partner retailers that will be participating in the GW2 pre-purchase program.

The local ones are:

Takealot.com
Kalahari.net
BT Games

All three of them will have the CE available for pre-order for those who can spare the dosh ;)

Good news, then we can finally see the pricing ;)

Well ... we have a relatively decent idea of what the pricing will be already - although of course local prices are going to be a different ball-game. As much as I'd love to get my paws on the CE (and despite my one friend's comments, I see no need to justify it because it will be a GLORIOUS waste of money), I just can't afford it at the moment.

Mind you ... I've got that new CC coming :3

I haven't been reading much about the release of GW2 in South Africa so to cut through all the Google-fu I have a few questions from you GW2 gurus:

1. Is there a release date yet for South Africa?
2. Pre-purchase from one of those listed retailers gets you a client you can load-up and play on the 3 day headstart or do you still have to download that client?

1. No release date at all yet, though it will be a world wide one unlike SWTOR
2. Pre-purchasing from the retailers will give access to all the beta weekends, but I'm not sure about the 3 day head start. If we don't get the head start I will be ordering digital.

3 Days head-start is included in the retail pre-orders according to this post on Twitter:

We'll be announcing a list of retail partners soon. Any pre-purchase includes the 3-day head start. http://ow.ly/9UNil ~RB2

You'll probably still have to download the client though as the physical item only ships on the launch date - I remember something similar when Aion launched here.

Also, the next beta apparently is scheduled for April 20.

Oh man, I must have missed that tweet. Thanks though, then I'll quite certainly order from Takealot. Now just waiting on pricing for the different versions. Will there be a deluxe version for retail though? I want the extras you get with that Digital Deluxe.

I've been wondering about that myself - considering the cost of the CE was was giving the Digital Deluxe an eyeball or two, but I have my doubts. One remains hopeful however :)

Ah ... a thought just cropped up. It's all tied to the keys we're using, so DD will probably ship in a normal case like the normal version but with a DD code. And if not, I'm sure the GW2 store will allow you to purchase an upgrade similar to how the GW1 store allowed you to upgrade from the normal to the GOTY edition later on.

No. If you order the game from takealot they will mail you beta access and early access keys then ship the physical game to you on release.

I would love to get the CE from kalahari etc but the price will probably just be to high for my liking. I'll just stick to the standard version.

btw, those that don't know yet the past weekend was the last Closed BETA event, the next one will be the pre-purchase ones.

I'm quite looking forward to it. I've been watching the Yogscast and Totalbiscuit playing the past weekends beta. It was funny just how in love Totalbiscuit was with the game, he couldn't stop singing its praises. :D

hahahaha, can't wait myself, but first need to wait untill 10 April that's only after easter weekend ;/

Ergh, so I will have to find a client from someone if I want to be in the early access 3 days? That is a bit sucky, no way I am downloading 20+ gigs of client at my 40k/s wireless.

Oh well.

I was actually hoping that we get prices before we can start to order. I'm not spending a cent on SA retailers if they are going to be more expensive than the GW2 site.

Chances are good the it will be a fair bit cheaper at retail, just look at Diablo III.
