Guild Wars 2

There is no official release date. So they are guessing or they know something we don't. I will wait for Arenanet to confirm.

Well at least we can pre-order... TAKE MY MONEY TAKEALOT!!! It's not a very long wait till the 10th though, looking forward to the news and even more to the game. Going to be hard to juggle, GW2 and D3 together.

I wouldn't be surprised if the eventual release date does fall around there though - or in July at the latest. It's relatively similar to most MMO beta-to-release timelines I've experienced so far. Also I recall ArenaNet saying that they don't want to open beta testing until the game is very close to ready - which I'd rate it is by now.

And folks are pegging the closed public betas, which won't be under NDA either as happening on the 20th or 27th of April.

So maybe they're basing their dates on that - but I'll rather wait until the 10th. ANet did say anything before the 10th of April isn't officially sanctioned by them. So ...

Well I pre-ordered from Kalahari. It's only R250 and if for some reason I don't like something about the pre-order post April 10 I will just cancel the order and get it from Takealot.

Did you pre-order a pre-purchase? for the 10th April.

I pre-ordered. I'm amusing it will fall into the April 10 pre-orders when they are actually available.

Somewhere in this thread someone mentioned if you pre-order it's not a pre-purchase it's 2 diffrent things.

So if you pre-ordered now you will only get the game on release not for pre-purchase, pre-purchase is only availeble from 10 April.

Takealot is taking part in the pre-purchase program, so I'm assuming any orders placed before April 10 will fall into the pre-purchase basket.

Ditto for Kalahari, though if for some reason my current pre-order does not qualify for that I will just cancel the order.

That R250 on Kalahari seems to good to be true? What do you guys think? If I pre-order it can they charge me more or am I guarenteed the game at that price when its released?

They guarantee you that price.

Note: Products on pre-order can only be paid via credit card. As per any credit card purchase, the amount due is immediately collected from your credit card when you place the order. If the list price has decreased at the time that the product is released we will add the difference to your account as profile credit. If the list price increased we will take the knock, you will not have to pay additional charges.

I don't really understand the multi guild thing. Is it going to be like an alliance of guilds, or will you be able to belong in more than 1 guild? Too early for me. On another note, the PVP in this game sounds amazing, me coming from playing DAoC since beta.

You can join multiple guilds and each time you log in you can choose to represent one of those guilds while you're playing.

I can kinda understand their reasoning behind it ... but I can't see myself getting behind the idea. Fair enough if you want different chars in different guilds, but switching guilds on the fly is a bit ... dunno ...

I'd be okay with the idea of you being able to temporarily represent another guild within your Alliance maybe (anybody know if the Alliance system is still going to be used?)

I dunno, it makes sense to me, mostly because I live with two gamers. We'll probably have a guild of our own, along with other friends, but then also have a main guild, a proper guild. It makes sense to me to not have to have a toon just for playing with my housemates...

Wooden potatoes has a very good response to the multi-guild system, this guy is worth following if you like your GW lore.

I know exactly how I'm going to use the guild system. First I'll create a guild that myself and my work colleagues will be in, this way when we play together we play as a guild. For the times that they are offline, but I'm playing then I'll likely be part of whatever guild the My Gaming community creates. Beyond that who knows, but I definitely see myself using this feature.
