Skyrim Thread

Must say, the creation kit (Steamworks, whatever it's called) is really bringing this game back for me. I was getting bored of Skyrim (about 70 hours in) and am now able to enjoy it again (new items to craft, new places to visit, minor dislikes fixed (like house markers on the map)

I'm gonna put this her because it's hilarious. Skyrim Hoarders

This was hilarious. I haven't had time to touch Skyrim (or any TES games), but I know exactly what is going on. :)

I bought this game in November last year, but then came Batman AC, Saints Row, Assassin's Creed, Alan Wake, Mass Effect... you get the idea.
So I'm finally starting Skyrim this weekend. Hopefully it will be enough and hopefully the game will live up to the hype.
Any tips or recommendations on patches, mods, etc. that I should download? (I assume the bugs have been sorted out by now?)

Haven't played this in a while... need to take on the main Alduin quest now before I never get to play this again :D

Maybe you should first look at the UI before installing the mod so you can get that awesome feeling of seeing it become 100x better.

So after leaving Skyrim shelved for a few months (last played it about a week after release) I got stuck into it this weekend.
Wow, the game is awesome.
My character is now level 12 so I am still in early stages of the game, but I have seen 3 dragons so far. woohoo

Fast healing in one hand and an ass kicking blade in the other with heavy armor and you pretty much have an invincible character.

I got my smithing up to about 85, need to get this up to 100 so I can look the biz in my dragon armor...

Then I will take on the main mission... I pretty much have this and the companions left to do, unless another large mission pops up, I have pretty much done the rest...

This is going to sound really nooby but,
1. Is there a key for the map describing what each icon means?
2. I need to find the thing where I can take magical properties from weapons and learn how to do it for other weapons etc. I found one place in one of the caves around (town with dragonsreach (can't think of town name)) as I pick up a lot of stuff that would be nice to get the properties of.

For 1: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Maps. The site also has a lot of info about Skyrim in regards to quests, skills, monsters, weapons and armor, etc.

For 2: I assume you are talking about the Enchanting table and not the skill. There is one in Whiterun, inside the Jarl's palace. It's to the right where the court mage is. Also, some of the house have them as upgrades, like the one in Solitude. The house in Whiterun doesn't have this upgrade though.

Awesome thanks. +1 to you
Next thing, I heard there was a texture pack for skyrim. I tried to download it a while back but it didn't do it. Does anyone know where I can get it and what are peoples thoughts on how it is/was.

The texture pack is available through steam for free. I don't know if it's available as a separate download.

I haven't done any screenshot comparisons, but there has been some. The one thing I did notice was that the pack fixes the texture on Ebony and Nightingale armor.

ok thanks, I just checked now to see the differences. I thought it was a huge graphic overhaul type thing. But not really so I don't know if it did work or not.

I did that with a Mage. High level of healing and destruction and a mask and cloak which have 100 times magika regeneration each.
He is like a Dragon rapist.
