Guild Wars 2

Hey guys, I have been away for a long time... not up to date anymore.

Where are the places you can pre-purchase GW2 locally? I see takealot, kalahari and BT Games.

If I pre-purchase from local places, will I get the key now, or from post only? Any information of when the next beta will be?

Takealot are out of stock of the pre-purchase, BTGames still has I think and you should be emailed your key upon payment, Kalahari also have stock but it doesn't look like they are sending out keys, might have to wait for the box.

Next beta is the end of April according to Arenanet.

Gah so even if I did my order yesterday afternoon I missed out at Takealot? :(

Isengard - Gimme your key pretty please?

Lol wyvern XD

ITS WAAAAAAAY CUTE!!! But some things take preference over qyootness factor... Methinks you be out of luck :P Did you preorder or pre purchase from takealot? if u havnt paid yet then try BT games

Hey guys, quickly registered just for this. I see a lot of people asking about Kalahari.

I phoned them yesterday to ask what was going on (it showed it as pre-order expected April 2012) and when asked about whether or not they already have their stock or not, the very helpful fellow told me that they would only be sending out the product on the 20th of April, to coincide with the first beta-weekend. (His words, Anet still hasn't confirmed it will be the 20th) That is why people who bought at Kalahari's orders show 'on pre-order' for the pre-purchase.
I would assume that perhaps they are doing this because they haven't yet received their stock, and arn't sure when they'll be getting it and thus send it out all at once.... or they're just being weird. I don't know.

If you are one of these people, I suggest either calling them and maybe trying to convince them otherwise.....or you'll need to get the client DL from an outside source before then in order to have enough time to download the client before Beta. I hear rumours of at least 12gb.

Ok guys, so confirmed. the discs on the physical copies, will only contain the client. Which will download most of the game. So for you with low bandwidth and slow lines, i suggest make a plan.

So if we do want to send an angry email demanding our keys, who do we send it to?

i am all ready downloading without even having a key :P

extract it then, run gw2 file, should start downloading :)

Important note: Although you can download the gw2.exe downloader (and it still works), the beta build for the upcoming events will be a different one, to such an extent that you'd have to download a new client. The current build (13927) will be outdated and NG for the beta world events. From Martin Kerstein (CM lead at ArenaNet):

Q:If u played the last beta weekend do u have to download it again?
A:Yes, you will have to download the client again. ^MK

The current build includes an executable, tmp and an 11Gb dat file (it's complied with a proprietary compression algorithm, so you cannot extract it and there are no tools currently available to view or open it). This allows you to access the log-in screen with 3 music tracks in a random loop ... and that's it.

If you want to see this, save your bandwidth and rather view it on YouTube - someone posted a nice HD video of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtcwJWn9MnE :)

Um, I have no idea actually. I just phoned them and got sent through to the...gaming department? Something like that.
If I were to send an e-mail though, I'd probably try sending it to the same guy that contacted the pre-ordered people about the pre-purchase on last Thursday, namely [email protected]

Since I'm getting two copies for the household anyway (Myself and the SO), I just left my kalahari purchase on pre-order and bought a pre-purchase ed from BT. You might want to call instead of e-mail, simply because it'll get you a reply quicker and it looks like these pre-purchase editions are going very fast, and if you miss out, you'll need to buy it from Anet at R150 more, which is frankly rediculous.

Ugh, I'm trying to avoid calling, as I'm pretty busy with work right now :( That email addy is borked for me, btw, but thanks anyway!

Oh, hm.

This was at the bottom of my e-mail:

E: [email protected]

S: peter_september

But I see that the adress the mail was actually sent from was [email protected] instead. However, the links in that e-mail say "mailto:[email protected]" rather than the actual e-mail adress it claims.
So, uhh...yeah, I'm really confused.

Hope you come right Avatar, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Well according to peter from kalahari, the 20th delivery date is indeed correct. This will be my last game purchase from them until they catch up to takealot.
