Telkom 1Mbps, 384kbps ADSL speed upgrades in the pipe

Wow, thats great news - if it happens. Hopefully the data price doesn't increase though. I'm on a 1mbps uncapped with mweb. It would suck if my line was syncing at 2mbps but my isp speed was kept at 1mbps, lol. Although history is on my side with mweb.

Another thing is that from the time 384 gets upgraded to the time 1mb gets upgraded, the 1mb guys will be paying more for the same thing? Not that I really mind of course, just an observation.
What would piss me off is if they increase the line speeds of the 384k guys, then find that there is too much congestion to increase the 1mb lines and the situation is prolonged. Then I want to pay the 384k price :p

PLEASE let it be true!! I recall mweb bumped up my 512k to 1mbps for free so they could be doing it for 2mbps :D
 
So there won't be a 384kbps service anymore after this?
And what will happen to the pricing of the 1Mbps? Will it drop to the current 384kbps price?
I cancelled my ADSL a couple of years ago when the mobile operators starting selling 2GB per month (with dongle, and speeds that easily topped 3Mbps) for less that the price of the line rental alone from Telkom.
 
What's probably going to happen is speeds are going to get upped, but if you stay on a 384 package, you'll still get 384 speeds.
 
Telkom may be shooting themselves in the foot with the 384k upgrade - I feel that a lot of people would be inclined to downgrade and pay R200 less than what they are paying now as 1mb is quite a decent speed.

Personally, I am happy to continue paying the same (or even less!) for an awesome 2mb line. I hope MWEB comes to the table with a free upgrade :)

And +1 to the "this Monday couldn't get any better" posts unless Arenanet decides to make the GW2 links available for downloading beta for us prepurchasers :)

Yeah feel bad for people that would get cheated by telkom by that.
Not sure if you seen but atleast mweb is already game by upgrading speed and lowering price for the 1meg.

If OpenWeb doesn't upgrade the speed of my package, I'm moving to Mweb. Mweb's 1mb option will then essentially be cheaper than my openweb's 384.
