I am one of the people who voted for Ichigo and set up an account for the sole purpose of voting only.

That asside i find it quite amusing that everybody is getting so uptight about how the votes were generated with this being a Gaming site, where all you guys do on here is play in a world that is generted for your own benifit, to game and beat the other guy.

Yes i get all the other issues of gamers only etc should have had a say or vote but hey this was just another game where Ichigo won the game. There are no rules in a game and if you find a cheat to get you one up on the other guy then hey what is the problem, do you go out and tell everybody how you did it probably not. So are you telling me that no one on this site has used a cheat in a game before to get ahead, sure you havnt.

Its easy to hide behind a forum and sling stuff at the other guy but it really makes no difference in the scheme of things. Good luck to the winner and hope you enjoy the PS3 and always wanted one!

Thanks for the vote and glad you found my topic useful

Actually, there are rules - you are required to read them when you register: MyGaming Forum rules

Interestingly, I can also see that you have the same IP address as a number of other accounts all created within minutes of each other that all voted for Ichigo.

Which accounts had same IP's as him would love to know, if it isnt classified that is

You are correct and are all accounts that i use on a daily basis so for sure they would have all been from my IP address, nothing to hide here so good job for figuring that out.

Thanks for proving my point.

I won't be posting that sort of information.

Unfortunately I did see this happening.
Considering the value of the prize there should probably be some restrictions on who can vote, like more than X posts and registered for longer than Y weeks.

As for people complaining that it's not fair to discount these votes, well I'll tell you most other forums would just ban all those accounts and your own for vote rigging and be done with it. The fact that James has both not banned you and kept you in the competition to count your legitimate votes says a lot about how lenient he is, so to carry on whining about how he rigged the votes is unbelievably laughable.

I'm a little disappointed about how few legit votes there were but I think the format of the competition needs a bit of work, maybe a community discussion. The idea was interesting though.

Dude really you bitching and moaning isn't going to change the fact you never won. Get over it.

Hows that even a reply to what I said do you read the post first? Got over it long ago when I went to eat a pancake an hour ago unless you want me to start again.

There is questioning the running of something and there is getting personal because you're butthurt ........ the latter is not on no matter what. In the end, James took into consideration input from the community and actually put it in action. The result was a fair outcome and a step toward the betterment of the community. Not many other places are so personally involved, so appreciate it.

A forum will always come down to a popularity contest when members vote, it's one of those things, most gamers will not look at or fully appreciate content and effort when their friends are involved. It may not seem fair but that's them, not the staff. Hey, it's gamers  Whoring votes is not the way to go about winning stuff, interacting with a community is.

My 2c anyway .....

Its like government giving people ID's for extra votes.

Hell if the Government would do something like that I still wouldn't vote for those in place :p

This was a MyGaming community vote. Having people come in from another forum and register to vote for you isn't fair. They're not part of the MyGaming community. It would be like shipping people in from another country for an election.

This rule wasn't stated because it's common sense.

Exactly!! I see it as a form of cheating.

Said my 10+ friends were current mygaming people, markface and rosaudio is 2 of them

But then what about the other 55 of your friends??

In the forum admin panel I can see exactly which accounts voted for which option on the poll. It is a simple matter of checking when those accounts were created. I triple checked my count, using two different methods - there were no mistakes.

Because of the obvious and blatant vote padding, the simple criteria applied to all entrants was to remove shill/fake/spam accounts from the voting figures - accounts created after the date the poll went live that have done nothing other than vote on the poll. As everyone can see, there were a few entrants who had their final score revised down.

Checking IP addresses and user names, it is also clear that a number of accounts were registered by the same person, for the sole purpose of padding votes. This is actually grounds for disqualification, but because the revised result included only votes from community members established before the poll went live, I deemed it a fair final result. Everyone was measured by the same stick and all legitimate community votes were counted.

As for the laughable accusation that I rigged the vote: I could refute it by posting the list of who voted for which option on the poll for all to see and verify for themselves. I have nothing to hide in that regard. However, I will not be doing that because the votes are made anonymously and likely not all members will want to have their votes made public.

The decision is final. No amount of (ironically) questioning my integrity, demanding to see the list of voters, or making idle threats to no longer contribute to the MyGaming forum is going to change that.

Please name and shame the user responsible for the large number of fake account.

James doesn't need to make mention of who did such things nor does he have to post lists of all the valid votes that were tallied up. I'm pretty sure that in future he will focus more specifically on people who try to maneouver their way around the comp to increase their chances of winning.

It's scary to think of the lengths people would go just to increase their chances of winning and it's sad.

Friends and family who dont use forums yet were about 20+- (guessing had to help them register) not sure about rest

Yeh so you see, it's exactly fair if you have people that aren't willing to stick around and contribute towards the forum and try be apart of the community, to come and drop a vote then bugger off. I mean think about it logically, am I being fair in backing Azimuth on this, as well as those who are just trying to put a point across and saying "hey man listen, your methods are unethical it's not fair that this is a community driven comp and outsiders with no contribution are coming in and ruining it unless they are here to stay"??

I'm not being nasty in any way about this, I'm just trying to make a valid point.

The irony is more people would probably have voted for you two if it wasn't obvious that you were vote padding. Anyway, water under the bridge, congrats to Crz for winning. :)
