Been using 7 Ultimate for a few years now... Had to do a coupla reinstalls due to crashes and so on, but it's served me better than any other OS so far... Most feature ridden. Not the most user-friendly of the lot though.

At Home, Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit

At work, Vista Business and XP connected with Input director.

Exactly the same except for the XP thing. I can't wait for Windows 8 though! I like Metro. Don't know why people don't like it.

Why do people get Ultimate and Professional for their home machines?
I guess most are illegal copies, but for those who bought it do you actually use the extra features like joining a domain or the drive encryption. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Yup. I ran through all the versions (Try before you buy) and Home Premium is more than enough. Plus cheaper! :D

Well im using Win 7 for the past two years because my old computer that had Win XP Pro crashed so i upgraded to Win 7 and it proves to be better.

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
In my opinion, it's the finest gaming OS out there. XP might have slightly better memory management, but with the insane amounts of RAM we can get for dirt cheap today, 400MB won't make such a big difference. The difference in shader technology will, though, and the fact that all DirectXes up til 11 work on Windows 7 is a bargain.
I've tried Windows 8 CP, and while it's about as good for gaming as 7, it's not up to scratch with other system tasks.

The new Windows is better than the old one? Who would have guessed :D

Sarcasmgasm!!!

Win 7 Ultimate, but the MSDN version, perks of being a dev I suppose :)

I wonder if soon we would need an up-to-date equivalent of DosBox to run games that used to work fine in xp (compatibility mode is a lie), something like XPBox :P

You obviously don't know Windows.

ME and Vista would like a word and Win8 is waiting in line.

AMEN. There was this post on alternate versions of Windows being good and crap. Win8 after Win7 after Vista after XP after ME after 98 after 95 after 3.1. You get the picture

Win8 scares me because it's not just that it's a poor design (like vista) but rather it's a fundamental shift in thinking and a very real minimisation of the full desktop experience.

I saw a preview build one of our developers got his hands on and I was very glad I use Mac OS now. The shift in the way 8 works is scary huge.

Windows 7. Have not had a problem with it yet, but will never be able to revert back to XP or lower.

It's Microsoft's attempt to leverage their position in the desktop space to bassackwardly brute force their way into the tablet space.

Windows 7, next OS will probably be Windows 9.
(Always one out of two: 98 -> Skip 2000 -> XP -> Skip Vista -> 7 -> Skip 8 -> 9 ?)

:P
