Why is having a 'good' K/D ratio so important for clans? Would they feel embarrassed if they had a player with a mediocre K/D ratio? Coz, I wouldn't mind joining a clan, but it seems I've got a rather weak ratio, so I cannot join.

In BF3 K/D ratio should mean 0 but unfortunately some people want 1.5+ K/D before evening allowing you in their clan.
Its actually a joke, BF3 is not about K/D Ratio, Its about working together as a team, if you play support you're role is too lay down cover fire and supply ammo ect and so on for the rest of the classes.

My BF3 K/D ratio is around 1.3 which is quite acceptable for me as I mostly play for team work and lay down cover, which also means my accuracy suffers because a lot of the time I lay down suppresive fire for the rest of the team.

Where as my K/D ratio on MW3 is closer to 2.0 because there I play for myself.

Your spm and k/d is an indication of skill.
Its no the be all and end all, but you obviously must be able to kill people efficiently once you have just completed your good piece of teamwork :)
It is most likely just the top clans which will have such requirements though.

K/D means being able to carry your own weight.A k/d of 1 means you can stand your ground while a k/d of 2+ means you can stand your ground and get the upper hand on the enemy your facing.Basically a higher k/d means a higher survival rate, you either get a high k/d by knowing how to drop people fast or by playing in a defensive manner by putting yourself in a place where you have an advantage.

Personally when i go in to clan games everything is forgotten about survival because your wondering if your doing the right thing, usually in pub i would take a different path then my squad or move out sooner/later then my squad so i can flank enemies/ambush incoming enemies. That's usually seen as lone wolfing so i can't exactly do that in clan games for fear of my clan thinking that i'm not a team player.

Agreed. I tried to join FiB some few months ago, but, obviously my K/D ratio wasn't up to scratch for their requirements. But I play for me and me only. Unless I'm playing with my brother and/or friends. I play as a team-player mostly. Helping out (choosing an appropriate class) my team is something I do often, except when I'm aiming for a personal goal/achievement, in which case, I'm more likely to play for me, and not the team. Someone once told me to 'Play to have fun' and that's all I'm doing lately. I really don't care about a superb K/D ratio.

The accuracy and recoil on this thing is amazing, and it takes so few shots! OMW!

Well said. My kd ratio is about 0.93 or something but I don't really mind much. Funny thing is a lot of the games I play I end up in the top 5 not because of kd but purely because of supporting my team. I really enjoy the team playing aspect of bf3. It makes the game for me.
