Doom

Had a look to see if anyone has posted about it, and aside from mentions in posts about Shareware CD's, and running games from DOS, there's just Kuga's post about how he likes to cheat :D.

Seriously though, Doom was an awesome game, and was generally what we did on Fridays in computer science class in high school.

I actually found a couple of copies of it on floppy disks while I was moving a couple of years ago.

Who remembers this guy?

Cyberdemons, scared me. Trying to get this to run on an old 386 was an interesting thing, I've got it on my Xbox-360 since I've had the 360 and still haven't really gotten down to play it in almost 6 years. I must do it, the music was epic, the level design brilliant and the atmosphere... Then again I was 12 when I played it.

Every year after Doom came out, on 25 or 26 December we got together with a serial cable and played a team game. Continued with other games, but returned time and time again to Doom 1 or 2.

yeah a lil bit scary when they jump out you and your gun starts firing a frenzy..

Most vivid memory of the game itself: Walking along some corridor or something and one of the monsters popped up and phycically dodging to the left to avoid the attack.

And then thinking: You idiot!

Doom 3 was still the scariest game for me. I was playing that in a dark study with headphones on. One time my wife snuck up on me and grabbed my shoulders and said Wa! I think I nearly hit the ceiling. I swear I was a nervous wreck by the time I finished the game and the expansion pack.

Pssst... This is where FPSs started :)

Though I could be wrong or rather 'misguided'.

Spent more time play Quake than this. We had Quake installed on our home PC, but never DOOM.
Never came very far, even though I cheated throughout most (of what I played) of the game.
