Five massive boss battles (MyGaming feature)

Awesome article, Jeremy! The Metal Gear Rex vs Ray is definitely one of my favourite boss battles, this basically changed the entire flow of the game for a few minutes (as mentioned in the article). Many modern day boss fights are really dumbed down and do not really compare with the scenario in my head when I hear the phrase "Boss Battle".

Saren in the original ME wasn't bad either, but I would have added a little more strategy to that battle.

Keep these coming!

Sadly I haven't played a single one of these games being a PC gamer my entire life, but man do I wish I had a console now

Sorry I dont agree with Gears 2 been on that list..........that was one of the weakest bosses I have played in years !!!

I wouldve rather chosen Raam from part 1.........NOW that was a boss battle

I would also say that ALL the bosses from the Ninja Gaiden series would also fit the bill for this list

DAM YOU Alma !!! From ninja gaiden black - chapter 8

Completely agree, the Rex vs. Ray battle was pretty unexpected, as I never expected the game to take such an ambitious leap, but it did.

Thanks for reading and the feedback :) Will keep the features coming!

Boss fights or end game fights don't really stick in my mind unless they're disappointing, I care more about the game being wrapped up well. As an example Crysis had a boss battle at the end and then basically said "to be continued..." it felt like the end of the game was cut off, not a good feeling.

On the other hand with Unreal 2 which could have been a better game, I barely remember the boss fight yet it has one of the best endings around. Morrowind had a good boss fight which tied into the game well and wrapped it up nicely.

Games which has some mandatory boss fight just to end the game are rather disappointing even if the fight is great.

I have never played any of those games fully, but that part in Force unleashed where you had to pull down a star destroyer was pretty cool.

You're totally right. Crysis 2 bummed me out even more, it didn't even HAVE a boss fight haha. I was so excited to fight a giant Ceph, except it culminated into nothing really. Crysis 2 was a good game, just had an anti-climactic ending of note.

What he said. Especially The Unknown - man that was awesome.

And the one time you fight The Unknown, there were some robots dancing, and when you attacked them, the boom box turned out to be a robot as well. Then the unknown drops out of the ceiling in pieces. Cool scene.

This guy did that battle really well, although it's a rematch so he knew what was coming and how to kill the thing

Man now I want to go play this again.
It was one of the most fun and original boss fights I'd had in a while.
