Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

Just finished Act I on Nightmare together with Grimspoon. Definitely easier going with the Wizard than the Barb. Still died a few times but at least this time is wasn't from normal mobs.

Strange, Waco seems to be having a much easier time with his barbarian. We are nearing the end of nightmare and the mobs are beginning to hit rather hard, so myself and Nimatek are focusing more on damage mitigation for the whole team.

This is the build I'm using atm http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#WRgYhf!ZdY!ZaabZZ.

I also finished act 1 on nightmare last night with my DH... I destroyed just about everything as long as i could keep distance. Anything gets even remotely close and im screwed

My rares dont sell on AH... dammit... and i'm not even asking a lot for it what the hell! think my buyout is on like 8000 and thats for items i get in Hell Act 2

Really sad Panda!

Stats stats stats. I wouldn't buy a legendary for 300 gold if its stats were of no use to me and my build.

Mmm, I have a geared level 60 Wizard and a level 36 Barb who just finished Act I Nightmare last night and it was so easy and so much fun (specially after all the kiting in inferno with my Wiz). I cant say atm I think my Wiz was easier or faster.

Let me put it this way: Last night I started playing after 7, on level 28 at the start of Act IV normal. Ended at 11 on level 36 & the start of Act 2, Nightmare.
The previous night I started at the same time, level 20 and thus ended level 28 at the start of Act IV

That's pretty decent going imo. You just need a nice weapon (I sword and board) and the right abilities and its pretty much steamroll for Normal and Nightmare. Thou I'm very sure it will change from Hell on :)

YOu will see that the wizard is a great class to have in multiplayer. From about lev 40 till 50 I was using this build http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#iURXSm!bYX!bZZaZa

Acheron becomes very useful in nightmare. Helps to burn those blue dudes down fast. Plus because you are floating you miss some not all of the dmg when they do aoe's on you like poison and those purple beams.

I dunno what it was but on Fridaynight me and Spooner played with the WD and Barb, both lvl 35/36, and the Barb got owned, left right and centre. I had a massive 2-handed axe, pretty decent socketed armour filled with Rubies to boost strength which in turn would push up my armour rating & dps. I think I had about 300 DPS and 700odd Armor rating (this was just after the skeleton king on Nightmare) and it just wasn't fun. If anything beyond a regular white mob attacked or god forbid 2 or 3 blues ganked up he would be down for the count in less than no time. It just stopped being fun, so I switched to Wizard and using THIS build, my DPS is 746 (almost 3 times that of my Barb) with an Armour rating of 1.2/1.3K (nearly doubt that of my Barb). Sure the armour and damage is dependant on Arcane Armour and magic Weapon being on but still. Last night she weathered a pack of Blues led by a Elite ganking us, Spooners WD went down when about half of them where down and I just threw up Diamond Armour, Shock Hydra and let the LAZORS rip through them. It was close but she made it, barb would not have survived.

Maybe I just got complacent with the Wizard and that is why the barb stopped doing it for me, all I know is I play to have fun and when the Character stopped being fun to play I changed. I think the barb's achilies heel is the low int, as any elemental damage just fucks you up. I mean even my wizard with her almost 1K int gets owned by the acid from those walking trees, what chance has the Barb with 77 int got.

Heads up:
Apparently when you join the game you are now forced into the general chat channel. And if you type /who d3 crashes.

Another smooth patch from Blizzard.

At this point they should just get the game running steadily that would help. I had to uninstall my game last night since my download was the us version and reinstall from disk to play. Due to that stupid ass patch that broke the us servers last night.

What still astounds me is the fact that you have issues with the AH - something they have been running for years in wow so they should be able to have it up and running with no issues - I get so many glitches that I get gatvol and gave up on putting stuff on the AH last night.

The various bugs in the AH and the fact that we cannot link profiles just baffles me.

Which is probably why the RMAH is still a no go.

The implementation of the AH is unbelievably crap. They made it practically impossible to gauge a fair price for the stuff you are trying to sell, and I really can't see why it's necessary to log out of the game to access the AH. In coop its especially bad because your friends who log out quickly to check the AH, lose their maps and end up having to follow you around like blind bats

I wonder whether they will even implement the RMAH. . . .I actually hope not, I can handle the online connection most of the time, but buying gear for real money . . Still astounds me.

With a great struggle got my Level 54 DH damage to 4k, life on 20k, dex on 1.1k, Intel on 0,7k I need better weapons.....

Act 2 Hell now, its bob and weave time.... And spending most of my money on repair and crafting better jewels for my armour...

Well it depends on your build and stats. The bard way to go until you over gear the content is 1 hander + shield imo. I'm 36 now with 6.5k hp, 870 dps last time I checked and cant remember the other stats atm
If you struggle, go spend a mere 10k on the AH and get a decent 1-hander and shield :)

This is the build I am using atm. http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WSXVcP!aYV!aaaaZa
I'll change a few things as I go up to 60, like ignore pain, heal rune on the charge, the resist shout & the stun, but some of those are there to stay.

With this build if you Leap into the mobs you start with that +300% armor. It helps allot
Then a rend to help with healing & dmg
Frenzy for to get stacks up
Revenge if it procs, and specially if u need healing
If its elites you have WotB
Charge to get out or dodge or to the annoying range dude. In inferno it will be insanely cool with the healing rune.
Continue using the leap for the armor buff and keep rend up and all is good.

I find it really easy and quick and loads of fun. What can be more fun than jumping and charging all over the place and then turn into a Super Saiyan :p

Regarding Intel. It is not something you look to get on your items. If its there with the other stats, then cool its a bonus, but it gives far less than other things do. By far your best defensive stat is Resist to All (10:1 vs armor) and 2ndly Armor (and there are breaking points for armor also)

@panthis, DH's are so op with regards to dmg. Mine facerolls also.

See I dont want to go to the AH to find gear for the barb. Thats stupid, IMO. This is the build I used for the Barb at lvl 35. http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bhXVkT!bdW!ZZaaZa

I will eventually go back to the Barb but for now, and my current enjoyment of the game I am more than Happy just to play with the Wizard.

wait your dps is 4k with the passive skill sharpshooter (that skill that ups your crits every 3 seconds)? i suggest a better weapon, try to get one with stun, fear, immobilize or freeze on hit stats. Cold damage also works brilliantly compared to fire and lightning.

tbh people can hate the AH but its probably one of the best ways to get level gear for chars especially if you struggling. Dont fool yourself and think that you will always get item drops that suit the level char you currently playing.

I got a 240 dps bow and it definitely improved my survivability in hell. Though it didnt help me much in killing that invulnerable mob which champion was the only one i had to kill ... lots and lots of kiting was needed there
