And if you wanted someone to blame, blame those that paid for COD: Elite. If it had bombed this would never have been.

How is this different from the "Season Passes" for games like Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Max Payne 3, etc?

I have no idea, I didn't even know those titles had season passes. How I understand it is the Season pass is a once off thing, where you pay X and get several DLCs free. COD Elite & BF Premium is more of a Subscription service. Though I suppose parallels between the two exist.

Ah okay, so in essence you only gain access to the dlc whilst the subscription is active, that's actually a pretty stupid.

So it's akin to paying for a fictional service like Xbox Live, but you actually get gain something that isn't freely available otherwise. /ducks

its more like playstation plus, where you only have access to a game you downloaded as long as the sub is valid.

As long as it remains an Optional service its fine, I will gladly choose not to use it.

Same here. I'll gladly wait for the DLC to come out on the date scheduled for the plebes. That's now if I'm even getting one of them/playing the game still by that time.

Just sad to see though. I remember just before the game launched, those okes were standing on the stage at E3 telling everyone how they won't follow the same route as COD Elite. DICE has become EA's bitch. :/

Well this appears to be a season pass and not a subscription service if the following document is legit :

i.e. once off fee of $49.99

It does indeed but reading the "feature" list I can help but sight. "queue priority", "exclusive double xp weekend", "save up to five of your favourite Battle reports" So not only are people not willing to spend the value of a new game on this be left behind with these double xp weekends but you may also start finding it hard to get into a serve due to the queue priority. I really dont think this price tag is worth what u get.

I see it this way, the individual DLC packs should be retailing for about $10+ each, so like with Gears of War (where I would purchase all the DLC anyway), it would make sense to simply opt for a "discounted" price when buying all the DLC up front (even though $10x5 = $50, there's other vapid things like camos and squad emblems which sortof makes it worthwhile to Joe Public).

Granted, I already have Back to Karkand so I'll in essence be forfeiting that part of the saving. It would have been a lot nicer if the season pass was available up front, before the first DLC dropped.

I guess it comes down to personal preference, for me personally BF3 didn't have enough staying power to warrant buying one map pack let alone 5.

Yus, I lolled at this! Always Activisions/COD's fault regardless.

But seriously. If it works out to cheaper than individual map packs, I'm all for it. Which it looks like it is. But I agree with Strifehart, it would be even better if they would discount it for us guys who already have the Back to Karkand pack already....which most of us do I'm sure.

The one thing that bothers me about this is that if you only have BF3 you play $50 and that all fine, but if you already have Back to Karkand, why should you still pay the same amount?

Some people already bought it from stores and on origin and it was between R120 and R150 so I don't see why you should pay the same amount if you already own one of the DLC's.

I don't think this is the case at all. You pay the once off fee and then you get all the future DLC included in the price permanently, plus some extra stuff, this is a minimum saving of $10 if you intend on still playing the game for while.

If you check a little higher on the pace (mouse wheel works wonders) you will notice Strifehart pointed it out. Replies below:
