E3 "booth babe" feature causes a stir

And what would you have us do, Prophet? Buy airplane tickets and fly to the industry bigwigs to have nice chats with them about gender equality? Because I'm sorry, but that ain't gonna happen. I don't have the money for that. I could send them an email, venting my frustrations, but the chances of it actually being read? Slim to none.

We are already doing the best thing we can. Making a big stink in the public sphere. At some point, the head honchos in the PR departments of all the major gaming industry heavy-weights are going to have to sit back and say, 'Hey, our demographic isn't standing for what we're doing. Maybe it's time for change'.

If everyone had just kept silent about CVG's article instead of getting angry and making a big stink about it, do you think they would have removed it? Do you think after the public outcry they got hit with they'd post another article like that one?

We don't have many ways to show our disagreement with them, so we're reduced to venting it out on gaming forums or voting with our wallets, which a lot of us are doing. At some point or another, something's gotta give.

Also, this quote should read

Games are made by "men" for a perceived hormonal, teenage male audience and until that changes we will have sexy-in-your-face

What better way to change this than by letting these people know we don't agree with their practices?

It's absolute bullshit, by the way. According to this article, 49% of UK gamers are female. The 'made for men, by men' thing is no longer applicable. It's time the gaming industry realized this and cottoned on a bit.

To be honest though I find the gaming industry has adapted and matured in some ways so not every female character is about T&A. Sure you still get instances where this isn't true but I think you get that in all mediums of entertainment. As long as people understand and see it as isolated elements rather than indicative of the industry as a whole we are doing all right.

This is true, in the last few years we have seen a big departure from the T&A female protagonist even getting a few strong female leads like FemShep & Madison Paige from Heavy Rain. Even the new Tomb Raider has taken a few steps back from the T&A approach.

I don't get the part where you are under a misconception of me saying do nothing. If you actually read and thought on what I said you would have noticed 2 things:

1) doing nothing results in nothing.
2) trend and conception issues.

Please tell me how exactly does those to make up and say to you "HEY PROPHET SAYS DO FUCKALL":eek::eek:

I still however feel that some drama queens like to hatch onto certain matters for their own attention whoring being completely besides the point of actually trying to inform or make a difference.

I still say that what exactly is stopping them, the abused, the objectified, the woman for stepping up and raising the bar, doing something about it.

No we all want to sit on our arses not being offended by games tailored to our fears and fails. *clicks likes*

Gladly missed by some.

What is wrong to look at beautiful things in life, but yes, they are being used to sell products.
But women are being used all over in advertising, magazines, TV, ect.
And yes, men do rate them, (pigs), but it is better to rate them offline/in private and not publically.

My issue is that your post came across as saying 'stop talking about it and do something about it', not that you said 'do fuckall'.

I really don't see the problem with booth babes (other then making me nervous, the same thing when awesome music is playing loudly in a populated area)

They get paid for it so it's their choice if they want to do it or not.

/Requests a Mod Changes the title of this thread to more accurately reflect the topic. Something like 'CVG's Rate the E3 Booth Babe Feature Causes a Stir' so that the people who didn't bother to read the article can see that its not about E3 having Booth Babes but about some second rate gaming news site objectifying women. I think this would clear a few issues up.
