Guild Wars 2

Are you too lazy to try it yourself or what?

Good god, what ran up your arse?

I don't have the funds to *just* buy gw2, so I thought I could ask and someone who didn't think it too much trouble could respond. Clearly you are not that kind of person.

My arse is clean sir.

Your reputation for causing shit and trolling is well known. So EXCUSE me for just replying like you always do to other people.

If you could have told us why then maybe I would have responded with some degree of respect. Also I remember the big bragging post from you where you said that you play most of the betas out there and get invited to them etc etc. So how are we to know you did not get invited for the closed ones for GW2?

To answer your question:
GW2 is great because it is fresh and new, has a a lot of content and is engaging. Combat is fun and the team play in PVE and PVP works really well. They took the normal formula of a MMORPG and ran with it and they won by MILES.

Now please do not try and respond with a comeback or some smartass comment so you can "win" whatever this is, read the answer, say thanks and just go about your business.

I have resurrected my 2007 gw account out of see what GW was all about since I have not played it in ages. Also going to give lineage 2 a bash just for hec of it.

Thing that bores and upsets me quick is getting all hyped up, getting the pre-order, install and just to find out it is just another same old same old. So it really doesn't just feel like another mmo, kinda hard to believe from my point of view.

I've not made the beta since I haven't bought the game after, well funding need to go into house buying. Obviously if I tried to get into it via contests I might have had a chance, but that too was a slump because I so fed up with mmos at this stage that I didn't bother.

After my SO said that I should push aside my kak and try see what it is about, well we are a few betas in and lol I'm going to try getting in via a contest. So then I just thought well I'm quite sure the NDA is over and I might as well ask a question here.

Sure I cause kak, I troll, I yell and scream like girl at times, but you could just have answered me in a nice way without getting all cranky about it, it would have costed you nothing.

Nonetheless thank you for you input, I shall investigate further.

Boy you RPG Nerds sure do get ancy :P
Here's my lightning Xero Fuss Review of GW2
Its EXACTLY like GW1 only everyone buying it will say its NOTHING like GW1 thus justifying the countless hours they will spend on GW2 playing all the newly improved yet samey game mechanics

OK, I was Joking, so before anyone flames me I was commenting purely from the point that I have seen Spartan have sleepless nights about how cool GW2 is and from the other guys in our group that refuse to play "real games" I've heard that it is a great game, more evil tea, more questing and much much more of the same stuff you saw in GW1

I'v also previously commented on the fact that I've heard form a reliable source that it will require an always on Internet Connection to bypass the DRM System :P

Now if anyone so much as dares look at that neg rep option I'll cry myself to sleep tonight
EDIT: Samey is too a real word !

/sets mode +less ancy prophet.

I can't say for sure if it will appeal to everyone.
What I can say is that I love it, I played a crap load of MMOs over the past year and nothing has kept me going on or held my attention.

You want a nice answer so here it is. The game is great, let me tell you from my experience this weekend that sold it for me. Apart from how big the world is. I played about 18 hours this weekend and only completed one map form the lot, hit lvl 15 and I was spent.
I saw only 6% of the world and a played myself silly.
The thing that sold it for me was the teamwork, how it actually works. Race and I were doing an event in the swamp, killing scales etc and helping tortured spirits, all of a sudden in chat a player calls out Shadow Behemoth incoming. So I tell Race, drop what you are doing and lets go check it out, just a short run away. Get there and it's a giant Shadow Behemoth, exactly like it sounds rampaging in the swamps, there are maybe a 100 players or more around it trying to fight and hold its minions back. You join in and get your ass handed to you, or you help a fallen player. It all feels connected, like you are part of something and not just running and grinding away.

This happened more than once on different events.

There is a guy from our clan selling his unused pre-purchase key at a discounted price, if you wish I could ask him for his details if you are interested.

So that explains it
I was loading up my Ghost Recon and all of a sudden I'm surrounded by a bunch of pint sized people ingame wearing naught but Cloaks of Ladynessless +100
I couldn't figure out what it was all about so I restarted, now I know that I accidentally transferred into your game, I don't like being called a behemoth btw, next time I'll make more of you pay

So my take on the game, if I may ^_^

Loved it in BWE1 and loved it in BWE2. I am and was lucky enough not to have any FPS issues thus far in the Betas and I'm really grateful for this. As Spartan painted an amazing image of the Shadow Behemoth event with loads of players, the last thing I would want is my FPS to go very low where it is not playable.
Tyria (my favourite from GW1) is once again amazing and I really can't wait to re-explore her lush greens. I completed all areas of the Beta except the 15-25 area of Charr (little bit of the Northern area) My breath was taken away with every turn, cliff or mountain to climb. From battling huge Yeti bosses for a good 15 minutes, to fighting a GIANT Great White shark (I kid you not!) under water, to having my GF tapping me on my shoulder to go look up into the sky, saying to me: "Look at the stars love." Swimming to the surface, I'm embraced by shinning stars twinkling in the sky with a moon not so far off and Tyria was peaceful and beautiful for those few minutes, just floating there and remember myself saying wooooow and then another shark came xD (all of that in 25 - 30 minutes)

I had already seen a lot of Tyria in the first BWE leaving my Necro on lvl 28, so this Beta all I wanted to do was get to Catacombs and see how the dungeons worked. O M W, team work team work team work! oh and revive - dodge dodge - revive! 12 minutes later a kill xD. If any of you have tried Slayers Exile on HM full run, to me Catacombs just puts it to shame. Puzzles, team work and amazing fights but all of it been SERIOUSLY hard. Not gonna spoil it for anyone :) but did get a nice Helm^_^ after completing it.

I did have a go on the Guardian and Ele class, was going to try Mesmer but when it was explained to me as been a supportive role class with buffs + debuffs I wasn't that interested anymore. I really do like the Gaurdian but found myself not that impressed with Ele. I guess that is probably just GW1 rubbing off on me, I should brush it off and go into that class open minded next time.

Really can't wait for the game to come but don't mind these BWEs tbh.
My Necro sleeps again in the Plains of Ashford, waiting for the next BWE :) (hopefully he aint wiped :P)

I really wish I just just say yes, but any further expenses will have to wait till after I'm paid again. Thanks for you take on the game.

...One question, can you now jump and go anywhere or is it still like gw1 where you kind of limited and not able to just jump over a ledge.

Yeah ... apparently there was a bug in the server matchups ... instead of matching winners vs winners & losers vs losers, it put poor LC up against Ring of Fire again.

Then again, I don't think LC was doing much in terms of WvW anyways ... new server meant lower population, meant people focusing on leveling their chars.

Also - I'm going out on a limb here - but I don't think we should put roots down in LC just yet - I saw a lot of German and French chatter on Sunday. Just keep an eye on things for now and make sure we decide on a final home right before the head-start.

Myself and 3 others moved to another server after finding lakeside county level 15+ PvE to be entirely dead, so I think we're definitely not settled on a server at this point.

There's jumping, there's swimming, there's dynamic events, there's jumping puzzles, there's secret dungeons, there's no quest grind, there's no standing still and spamming rotations in fights, there's finally a MMORPG that's worth playing again. :D

Well of course you can't go EVERYWHERE, up mountains etc with sheer faces, but if the angle is right you can go up, haven't found something I can't jump over or onto yet.

I was quiete happy with Lakeside County, just that the WvWvW was terrible, because we got matched with a FULL server versus our LOW server other than that it was great, i might just stay with it.

as far as servers go i rate it will be interesting to see what the latest server breakdown is going to look like... cause by what everyone is saying, SA community is scattered across 3-4 different worlds...

regardless, get this game in my face!

oh and @Spartan... THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAA!!!! RAWR!!1! :D

it would really be great if all the SA people can unite on the same server. I am sure it will make WvWvW very interesting. we should maybe make a vote between 3 servers, then cancel one out and then vote on the remaining servers.

Yea would be awesome, choose 3 and add it in a POLL, so people can start voting untill release, one with the highest vote we then choose :)

Or just add 5 EU servers.. in a POLL.

Well ... the problem is multi-faceted:

First ... different focuses - some people, like myself, can't be arsed and just really want to play the game and enjoy ourselves, and occasionally jump into WvW so we can have our asses handed to us. I'm not really into the sPvP facet, but I jump in there too from time to time. Then, you have your other folks who desperately want to PvP and aren't keen on a server which is likely to be sitting at the bottom of the pile all the time.

Second ... we had a major difference in levels - the 15+ guys had trouble in the higher level areas because new servers generally had lower level folks running around trying to level up so they were running around empty areas. This dynamic will change if they decide to do a clean wipe and everyone starts from scratch.

Lastly - server choice is being discussed into many places - at least 3 different forums that I'm mostly aware of(incl myG) are talking about where they want to go, and there are probably more - and I can't keep an eye on and contribute to most of them.

I'm actually hoping for a wipe so we can all get back to the same point and settle on a server - I know the choice won't be finalised until launch, but I'd personally prefer to have my choices nailed down before then.
