Why a Real Portal Gun Would be Awesome

ah man that was epic. If it was real though we would most probably be dead. Imagine what would happen if, during the testing phases, a portal was to open up in the center of the earth...

Yep and I am allowed to crush those dreams with gold hard reality. But seriously if you want to fund it please send me the requested amount, I will try my "very best" to make it look like I am pretending to work on it while living a life of lavish luxury on my own personal planet, named Bob.

But seriously though, that tech would have IMMENSE implications. Any science boff's in here that would care to explain what scientific advancements would be necessary to achieve such a feat?

Yeah why have airport security when they terrorist can just use a portal to get onto the plane. Any possible positive implications of such a device would immediately be counter acted by its possible uses for the one thing we humans do best, kill each other.

Why have guns just have a permanent blue portal on the side of a satellite and arm all soldiers with orange portal guns.

To create a portal you would need a stable Einstein-rosen bridge which in turn would require a species that hasn't been to the moon in 40 years to master manipulating gravity. Then once you've done that you need to somehow harness the power of an imploding supernova and miniaturize it to power a hand held device, all the while running the risk that something could go horrible wrong and a containment breach could cause the gravity to crush the earth into an even smaller spec of dust before tearing it atom from atom.

Simply put: An immense amount of energy would be needed, all of it being focused at a single point. If this was even possible and somehow executed, there is a chance that the energy will 'generate' a black hole, sucking up the earth and compressing all matter into a tennis ball sized sphere.

So no... its not possible.

I'd get up to so much mischief with a portal gun; but I'd probably primarily use it as a shortcut to work :P
