EA wants Origin to outshine Steam

Demartini is pretty chuffed with the progress Origin has made so far, and they do have admittedly impressive numbers for such a short space of time.

^ If they didn't force us to download Origin to play their bloody games then I'd like to see what their actual figures would be.

Steam offers a service. What does Origin offer? If they start actually caring about the customer rather than just thinking of all of us as potential income we might start to warm up to it. Steam didn't generate it's customer loyalty by being greedy.
 
Look Origin COULD be better than Steam, it's entirely possible Steam isn't perfect not by a long shot by the likelihood of EA making Origin better than Steam is slim to none.
 
If Origin can bring something new to the playing field then maybe,just maybe it might surpass steam.In 5 years or so
 
Thing is if they are always aiming to be 'Steam-like' then they will never be better than Steam because Steam is always improving so you're aiming at a moving target. Then when you take into account Steam evolves at a faster rate than Origin you begin to see the unlikeliness of the situation.
 
Origin is pretty much just a very poorly optimized online shop where as steam is so much more in so many ways.
Also EA are losing favor with their "Massive" Player/fan base because of the way their business practices have changed over the last few years.

For example The way they buy up and swallow up and coming/talented/amazing, studios/developers. Turning amazing franchises into what can only be described as horse shit and milking them dry and discarding them.
 
And I'm sure Kia wants to build better cars than Ferrari. Good luck with that...

If it wasn't forced onto users via BF3 nobody would bother.
