Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

I must be honest, I am hating the witch doctor on Hell. Even after buying some decent items off the AH he still sucks. Does no damage and dies at the mere sight of a zombie.

Unless I am doing something horribly wrong.

I felt the same way when solo'ing with my Wizard through Hell. I had to drop everything for defensive abilities and then I can survive 2 shots instead of 1. In a group it's too easy, and on your own it's too frustrating.

Excuse this long post but please read if you want a good laugh...

So yesterday i was merrily leveling away my Level 55 HC demonhunter

When all of a sudden...

"A wild orange item appears!" I couldnt contain myself only my 2nd legendary item, so i did a little prayer in my head...

"Lord please let this a semi decent legendary that i can sell for a bit of gold"

All it had was the word written "Sword"

So i pick it up, right click on it and close my eyes...

***DING***

Slowly open my eyes and im presented WITH THIS UTTERLY MOST USELESS PIECE OF GARBAGE IN EXISTENCE!!!

Really!? REALLY!? You give me a damn SWORD that is DEMON HUNTER ONLY!!!!!???? WTF!?

Caboose, I've picked up two legendary items that are worse than that. :)

A Hordradric Hamburger which is a dagger. It looks like an actual hamburger. Sold it for 100 000 gold.
Plus a rainbow sword. Can't remember the exact name. I'm sure if you go to the auction house and search for rainbow then you'll find it.

Both were dropped on Whimseyshire Hell and both are pretty funny but useless. :)

Anyone can use it but only Demon Hunters get that bonus. Out of the 6-7 legendaries I have picked up only 1 has been of value, the rest I've barely been able to sell since most are utter garbage. Pretty much only like 4 or 5 of the absolute best legendaries in the game are actually worthwhile.

^ Lol :D

I just finished that bit on Hell - there was a Cain glitch, he's still there walking around in circles in front of his house.

We'll just have to wait for patch 1.0.4 for legendary items to actually be legendary!

Ow and you guys must see my crazy level 51 monk with 11k dps! Speedrun Hell ftw with an 800dps fist weapon with 800 loh :)
(-9 to level requirements )

I had that same glitch, tried talking to him and he just faded away. I like to think of it as the Ghost of Cain.

I carried on and went back to town about 3 times and he's still there. I'm going to leave him.

Yeah happened on mine too, he just does his rain dance there forever :D

Haha, wish someone would do a voice over with him walking around there muttering to himself. If he isn't losing like, a thousand satchels, he's doing something like that. Wonder how the hell he managed to survive so long.

Because a small data set is never an indicator of pattern on a bigger set right? /sarcasm

I'm sure it does to an extend :)

I just don't care for anything xfire related :p and I don't really care if all the idiots and noobs stop playing D3. The game was never for them and when you have 8mil ppl, of which loads was just random gamers, buying a game a big % of them will never continue to play it for long, especially if it has and ending/final boss etc.

It will be the same story as D2... patches and fixes will improve the game over time (D2 only got it right after more than a year). The serious Diablo players will keep playing.

1 Thing I do agree with is that D2 needs a better end game. Something to keep ppl working, instead of just farming gear. Like it was in D2 with the ladder and level 99, which you did not need to "finish" the game. But I'm pretty sure Blizz will bring something like that in.
Atm I'm happy to keep playing and enjoying it at least until I have finished Inferno with all the classes and also tried the PVP. Only then will I look at the "endgame" and decide what the D3 future hold for me.

Besides everyone I know and care about are still playing and enjoying D3 :)

(I'm just throwing my opinion here, no offence or aggression intended here)

Simple fact of D3, No End Game.
Everyone has left or is leaving, in a month from now 20% of the original players will remain.
I know of 23 local players that have stopped, I have also stopped.

The game is boring and repetitive, nothing like D2 and as far as I am concerned its to far gone to be saved.

I've probably played more hours than most of you guys, I have beaten Diablo on inferno on 3 different toons.
I have farmed countless hours, I have made more coins and gotten better gear than most people...For what?
Just to farm more gear and get more coins? For no purpose whatsoever. There is no End game, there is no reason.
The game has an extremely short life span.

Why you ask..Because Blizzard only saw $$ signs when they made Diablo 3, they knew there were millions of Diablo fans waiting for this title and they knew they could cash in.

They dictate how people are supposed to play, They force you into certain play styles and gear, They nerf the crap out of everything useful. The way they treat their loyal gamers is an absolute joke.

Edit: Also please don't compare D2 with D3. D3 was in development for 7-10 years...Apparently..They had more than enough time to get it right.

Oh and I have seen F2P mmo's with better depth and story and much better end game..lol
That says a lot about mighty Blizzard.

Edit 2: I wanted D3 to be amazing, I wanted it to have the staying power of D2, I wanted it to be the game I could play for a year..and its not..not even close. Less than 2 months in and its already dead.

Ok lol @ you comparing Diablo to an mmo... seriously?

If you have played D2 online and on a serious level (which you clearly have not and very very few SA ppl have - thx @ telkom back then) then you will actually realize that D3 & D2 are actually very very similar and the only real issue is that you are capped to level 60 instead of 99. Its not like you needed level 99 to finish Hell in D2, but it was there.

It is certainly not dead to me (ye I've killed Diablo on inferno also) and my friends and we will be enjoying it for some time to come.

Whats up with trying to come across as an ej?

Well I'm going to keep playing until a) I beat Diablo on Inferno, or b) Torchlight II is released, or c) Guild Wars 2 is released.

I'm only on Inferno act 1 and still having fun with the game, I just find the auction house frustrating and the grind is slowly getting to me.

This. My Barb is on Act IV of Hell @ lvl 58 and I am still enjoying it. I only play on weekend and while there are times where I feel like im smashing my head against a wall its still fun. Plus I still have a Hardcore DH to lvl so yeah. Im at 130 odd hours and while it has lost some of the initial fevor I would say next to Demon's Souls this is the most time I have spent in a single game in a very long time.
