Anyone ever noticed how accurate the AK74M is with silencer on?

AK74M is so under rated, I use it myself when playing Assault (and not playing tag fag, yes it is my mission to try and get every gun tag available). It's got very little recoil and a good rate of fire + it looks way more badass than the M16

Accuracy is great with that gun the rate of fire is slower than the M416 and M16 tho....

need to look at the time to kill stats again.....

Its a very accurate gun but slow rate of fire. Short to medium range you will get beaten more often than not.

Guys, when you play, do you make it a rule to play as a squad and stick together at all times?

I'm finding sometimes a single squad sticking together with a good mix of classes can devastate my whole team.
What is your guys strategy for squad play - for conquest mostly?

I don't think I(and the players in my squad who I play with regularly) really play as a squad properly, we often go on our own trying to be rambo then end up getting owned when we encounter a group of really good players. Yeah, we'll get the most kills maybe, but that doesn't matter if your team loses in the end.

I usually go lone wolf unless i'm playing CQ.you get flanked way too easily in CQ and most squads consist of 2 medics,1 support and a sniper.

I'm starting to love the PKP again,1 shot to the head and one to the body kills anything.

Base damage = 34
Headshot modifier = 68
headshot + bodyshot = 68+34 = 102 damage

I've tried playing with the PKP but I find in close combat its too slow for me. So often close 1v1 I come off second best....as in dead.

The lone wolf thing is ok and the way I normally play, but this weekend I came to experience (on the receiving end) how effective the squad can be if played right. I would come through and take out 2 or 3 of them, but then the 4th would take me out, and inevitably revive his team, capture the point and move on. This would then win them the game. Very impressive.

I don't play in a clan, my skills aren't nearly good enough for that but I would KILL for a chance to play in a game with some kind of structure, like being in a squad and working together, and the squad in turn being part of the bigger picture.

Is most public games being in a squad doesn't mean anything as squads (at least the ones I am in) don't work together.

One reason I rant and rave about Tribes 2 to this day was the structure we had, defense, offense (enemy base and middle ground), farming turrets, etc. I live and breathe for games like that.

We normally sqd up and play together, go for the same points and defend from all angles. Works well.... Except if you on a 64 players server and only 4 guys are trying then it does not matter what you do you will loose

Fair enough... Coming from xbox mindset I can't even imagine what it must be like on a server with 64 players, absolute mayhem and action around every corner I'm sure. 12 vs 12 is quite enough for me, lol.

When you are in the squad, whats your squad class structure (medics, sniper, eng, support)?

I really think its the way forward and want to start adjusting my play style for it...

We will mostly play with our DGL kits and prac according to that. As well as our DGL team sqds. But mostly it depends on maps.... On Metro for example you will have more medics and a support for Ammo.... On firestorm you will need more engi's. Also make sure your sqd specs ie: Ammo, flak, etc are set accordingly ingame to compliment your setup.

need to look at the time to kill stats again.....

m16a3 800 RPM

AK-74M 650 RPM

M416 750 RPM

SCAR-L 620 RPM

AEK-971 900 RPM

AUG-A3 750 RPM

of all these guns, with out a doubt:

1. m16a3 the most versatile for any assault rifle

2. Aek-971 fastest time to kill with decent accuracy

3. SCAR-L most accurate assault rifle that can land 5/6 shots in nearly the same spot, it has in a way made the AN94 somewhat less appealing

4. Aug-A3, the best 'peeking' weapon, F2000 kinda fits in here too.

in general though, id always use the M16a3 and the AEK-971, at mid range that AEK-971 cannot be beaten, its time to kill is so fast.

:)

I'm still not convinced with the AEK, I find it lacks burst accuracy, so those extra 100 rpm are wasted on the scenery. Might just be my incredible fail-aim.

No dude, the AEK is really shit. It's accuracy is that of a pea-shooter.

@markface

Dude, we play in our squads, but choose classes according to what's happening. Like last night, we were holding B against a whole battalion of infantry, but then 3 tanks rolled in. So I spawned support (for C4) along with another teamie so we could take the tanks out. Then back to Assault after the tanks were taken out. So you must just kind of adapt. Working together as a squad helps. Except when it's 4 v 32. Then it gets kinda tough. I find that the lone snipers usually spoils the game for their team by sitting in a corner sniping. The results are usually scores like 2 - 15 with absolutely no team score, meaning they did nothing to contribute to the team.

Pubbies kinda suck though, in my opinion. It's the least fun you will get out of this game.

I try to join squads with my fellow SS clannies and we use team speak to coordinate along with the banter remissend of the "boys" bus home after school.
