I have been unable to explicate why they might be holding hands. Did the photographer instruct them to (reluctantly) do so? Or perhaps they are displaying affection for the reason that they are sisters (they are both brunettes, so this might be a possibility). Was this taken during the winter months when reciprocal body heat is important? No, that's not it either, since they aren't properly dressed. Do they suffer from some kind of phobia, are they unafraid of infectious diseases or maybe this picture was merely intended to titillate? The image will be printed out on high quality paper and circulated througout the laboratory and we will gather some more hypotheses.

They are holding hands since in the minds of most men the barely dressed women displaying any kind of affection instantly conjures up lesbian or 3 way fantasies. So it is a tool used the take a picture of 2 practically naked women and dial the sexulisation up to 11 which in return probably has some beneficial effect for the media publication this was shot for much like the perceived (and even incited by their manager) lesbian relationship of the 2 members of t.A.T.u is what gain them much of their fame though as with any such tactic the flame that burns brightest also burns out quicker.
