Half Life 2 Episode ?

So what happened to the follow up regarding Half life 2 episode 2? This is a game that I have found to be good but way too long to come to a conclusion. I'm talking about the game in a whole, not just the next episode.

This example from an interview done by Gamespot:

Newell laughed at this, and spoke of Ricochet 2, a title not likely in development, and more believably a code name for Half-Life 3.

"In terms of Ricochet 2, we always have this problem that when we talk about things too far in advance," Newell said, "we end up changing our minds as we're going through and developing stuff, so as we're thinking through the giant story arc which is Ricochet 2, you might get to a point where you're saying something is surprising us in a positive way and something is surprising us in a negative way, and, you know, we'd like to be super transparent about the future of Ricochet 2."

It just sounds like they have no idea as to what direction the story should go. It's a long time to take to create another episodal game or full feature game. Your thoughts

Yep only Valve, knows is what i picked up as well when googling. Do you think the game will still hold any suprises for you when released. I mean will it not be a concept that is now too old and not fresh anymore? Lots of games have used a lot of ideas created by Half Life and flogged it to death i feel.

The Story remains unfinished so I would say they will probably end up releasing Ep 3 as Half Life 3 and it will be a Valve game so it will probably still be good. But who knows or cares like with D3, I will get excited when an actual release date is announced.

True, i cant believe it's taking them so long. So lets wait for the date and hope it is as good as it has always been.

I don't like these short episodes. I much rather prefer a full game. But that said, please take us back to black mesa in the next episode or Half-life. Also, hope Black Mesa source is finished soon. That mod is taking ages. But then again, when it is ready it better be ready.

Hehehehe just messing with you. I bought the Orange Box a few months ago, still need to get HL2 waxed. But I have been following all of these developments and I am keen to see where this goes.
