Diablo III - General Discussion Thread

Just the other day I ran into a Yellow in the sewers in Caldium.... being Hell difficulty it took some time to kill him.
When I got him down to low hp I noticed something....... He has no HP left and yet he continues to kill me and my buddy and in turn do no die at all.
Immortal Yellow gogogo!!!

also
I just beat Diablo3 on Inferno with Wizard.

12.5k dps...

12.5k??? So wtf, High resistance?

 Was it Blizz going down, or something in between you and the servers that went?

Nah it was me, i noticed one or 2 glitches for about a second each and was contemplating going off or not, decided to carry on and boom, got dc'd for about 40 secs, disconnected internet reconnected logged back in and was greeted with my softcore char.

Time to start all over again :D

Lesson learned: You glitch, you LTFO (log the f**k out)

I started playing it again now after my adsl line got sorted. Tried to play this with like 800ms ping but was such a crap experience. Now have like 200ms ping and much better.

@Diabolix The speed will not make a difference, so you can just ask if anyone is having lag atm. 383k is fine for a bunch of ppl to play from @ the same time.

@Vivido Ye, between 70-80 pounds, but I have stopped playing mostly

Anybody get any lag with a 384K line? I have awesome pings, and then just randomly it spikes to 1300ms..

That happens on all connections. It was one of the major reasons why I stopped playing several weeks ago. I use to play on 4Mbps unshaped ADSL.

If you don't actually attempt a discussion about why you hold that opinion, you will just be regarded as a troll. Nothing wrong with disliking the game but just saying it's bad is fairly pointless.

I was just trying to gauge the initial reaction to my dislike of the game. The reason is because on... erm... another South African gaming forum (that shall not be named), I got crapped on from a dizzy height (including by the admin himself, no less), despite giving perfectly valid reasons for why I don't like the game.

I didn't feel like spending hours defending my opinion again, especially against personal attacks on my character.

Regardless, here's a condensed version:

I dislike it because the story is incredibly poorly written, the dialogue is poorly written, the game requires no actual skill to play, people buying items with real money is not only endorsed, but encouraged, and the game itself is too easy up until inferno, when it suddenly becomes unreasonably difficult out of nowhere. I also don't find it any fun. With Diablo 2, you somehow didn't mind going through the same areas over and over again, there was something intrinsically fun about the way the game played. Diablo 3 lacks that quality. I'm not sure exactly what it is, I just know it isn't there. After I got to inferno, I had no desire to play this ever again. I'm pretty sure I'll get back into Diablo 2 at some point. I always do, and therein lies the key difference.

Edit: Also no single player. No matter how fast your connection is in SA, there's always that slight delay, and it's annoying.

Whisper, I have some of the same sentiments as you. The FUN-Factor being my biggest gripe. However, I feel this way about most new games these days, and also find myself going back to "classic" games. The question I ask myself: Are the games getting worse, are we older now and only appreciate certain qualities in games?

I liked D3 a lot up until Inferno when it became a grind fest. D2 is also about grinding and getting items but you keep on progressing and you keep on gaining levels. Level 99 took ages to reach. D2 is probably my most favourite game of all time and I'm disappointed in D3.

Everything that Whisper said I agree with. I'm hoping that an expansion pack will bring back the fun in the future.
