What is better for gaming - capped or uncapped?

I've had almost no issues with MWEB uncapped and gaming bar a few MMO games that were fixed shortly after pointing it out.

Yeah, its been awesome for me on mweb uncapped. I have a small WA capped account which used to perform better than mweb for black ops, but now i never switch accounts. Mweb all the time.

Capped vs uncapped ADSL: which is best for gaming?

South African ISPs detail how they manage their networks for gaming traffic

Unless you are with web africa you need to worry about gaming or insecurities. Mweb actually has a team to optimize gaming traffic, well so they've said and so far I'm happy with the results. The days of multiple accounts for multiple things are so lank over.

Ya, haven't touched my Afrihost and FNB free gig backup accounts since going with Mweb. It's nice not having the hassle.

I'm on Mweb and generally have very good gaming performance. I think ISPs have really gotten into the whole gaming thing and have started paying attention to how games are prioritised on their networks.

I don't know why they would say that, but I'm really happy since I switched to their WA Home Uncapped account (1mb).

Seriously, when I'm on Mweb or IS servers, I tend to have the best ping out of 25 players, mine ranging between 8 to 30ms. Way better than my previous capped account. I've never managed to go over my rolling window however, so I may have to test that. But theoretically, if I punish the P2P traffic, I shouldn't see any affect on my gaming according to their AUP.

12ms on MWEBs BF3 metro server: LOVING IT!
Seriously, I do not regret going with MWEB at all, they are very uncomplicated and do what they say. WA on the other hand dragged their feet to the "unsustainable" business model of uncapped and then still have the cheek to throttle based on usage. Pssh what is this, 2005? WA is similar to Vodacom with all their rolling windows over a certain amount of days bullkak. Surprised they haven't just called it off peak minutes.

MWEB has the right idea - proving that it is actually worthwhile listening to the paying customer and answering the call without being heinously overpriced. Support team is awesome with getting new games sorted on the traffic shaping. /applaud MWEB

Local pings per ISP rely quite heavily on where you are located. So WA is pretty much always going to be better from CPT than other places.

Shaping is universally heavier on uncapped since they need to keep people in check...and since they can't do that via caps it has to be with shaping. So I'm not sure why this is even a question? Capped will always be either better or on par with uncapped for gaming....unless you run out of cap. ;)
