Counterstrike Global Offensive

So it was released today, does anyone know where to buy yet? Coz i'm sure as hell not downloading from steam!

For those not wanting to do a full download, if you have a friend with the game you can always copy it out of their steamapps folder and paste it into your own. Not very clean, but it works. You will naturally need to buy the game for this to work. And then live with downloading updates.

Or take your PC to said friends house with uncapped internet and download it whilst consuming a six pack :D

I remember the days i played this in a internet cafe. Was fun then, crap boring now. Why did i waste money on this? Will try again tonight, just need to get rid of the need for a "realistic" bf3-like game.

Don't understand what the fuss was about? Can somebody tell me what is the attraction of this game? Why do you guys/girls like it so i can maybe change my mindset.

I think its got to do with it being rounds and you don't spawn straight away after dying. Which makes you a little more careful. I love battlefield and prefer it, but I still find myself in battlefield not being as concerned about being killed since you generally re-spawn straight away. Just my opinion. Also you can end up with some exciting 1 on 1 battles at the end of a round.

I'm loving the game. It is a massive improvement on CSS, but if you were expecting a completely different game you will be disappointed. Counter-Strike is a sport title and so like other sport titles (like FIFA), they cant change much without breaking it.

The fun comes in the form of its difficulty. Getting first bullet headshots is what all the players tend to work towards and even the good players struggle with it. Playing on a server with other good players and shutting them down is a very rewarding challenge.

One of the best improvements I've felt in the game is the recoil. In CSS you could just crouch and empty a clip to get kills. In this game you cant even do that with smg's close range. You need to master the weapon's recoil pattern or fight in bursts/taps and always try get headshots.

The maps have been modified to make them better. For instance, they removed the downstairs tunnel on Nuke and made the doors solid. That means that the CT's can no longer just fall back into a ton of cover if they are overrun at ramp. That should result in a more balanced map.

The servers at the moment are badly setup and thats most likely due to them being setup by people with no CS history. IS Gaming probably have the best setup atm.

Once you are used to the game, I suggest joining a clan or starting one. CS is a sport title and so it really comes alive when you are playing against another team in a controlled environment.

Infy - Do you think CS:GO will become the next competetive CS? does it have that niche that 1.6 had to make it great?
Really considering a return to scene. I hope tournaments like ESWC take it as an official game so we get local tournaments with the chance to go over.

Loving the game. Always been 'n big fan of CS, where my competitive gaming started.

For those wanted silencers, they are looking at implementing it soon with one of the next patches, but at the moment there's a couple of bugs they have to fix first that is more critical than silencers.

I also like the way the new maps has been setup, looks like all the work/research and suggestions they took from the CS Pro's paid off. Looking forward to playing more :)

Whenever I feel good at gaming, I play CS:GO and feel VERY average again :D

Having never played CS before, this game really kicks you in teeth.
Recoil patterns, not being able to shoot while moving, CRAZY headshot skills of everyone else, unknown maps, screaming “pr0”’s… Its hectic boet.

It’s a nice change from the Battlefield I have grown so used to. Also excellent for sharpening up my aim.

As i stopped playing bf3, for the time being anyway, i will give this another go. Maybe it's big fun if you get used to it.

Just give it time, you not gonna logon to a server and start owning. Will take you a couple of days to get the hang of it first :)

It amazes me how good some of the guys are at getting headshots... i dont want to start waving the hacker flag... but HOT DAMN!! O_o

Here's a couple of things i changed which helped a lot with aiming better and getting more kills. Try it if you want.

In the Game Settings there is 2 Crosshair options you can change:
1. Change your Crosshair Type to CLASSIC (old style CS crosshair)
2. Change your Crosshair from Dynamic to Static

Also another crosshair setting you can change:
3. In the console type "cl_crosshairsize 3" (5 is default, anything lower than 5 will make your crosshair smaller,2 & 3 are good options)

To get Net Info:
4. In console type net graph 3 (pick a number between 1-5 and decide which net graph you like more)

Changing rates will also help (like any other game), Net Graph give you some ideas of what Tick Rate some servers are running:
5. In console type "cl_cmdrate **" ( make ** either 64, 101 or 128 or find a number that works for you) some servers might restrict you
6. In console type "cl_updaterate **" (make it the same number as the one you picked in 5)
7. In console type "rate 30000"

Just changing these few things should help you guys getting a bit better hit reg ect, it's not illegal to change it :) Play around with the settings in 6/7 but don't go to low.

Hope this helps a bit :)

Yeah but I think it's pretty easy and random getting headshots in CS GO, everyone seems to get them. It's the only part that doesn enough damage before the other person headshots you.

Can someone explain cmdrate and what effect it has?

in short

cl_cmdrate: The amount of updates you send to the server.
cl_updaterate: The amount of updates you want the server to send you per second.

The more updates your send the better hit reg you should have when playing

Ye some of the these CS guys are really insane. My brother was one of the best around imo and was a pleasure to watch.
